Great product - “unable to add loan to basket”
It adds minutes to my experience each time, and is a total waste.
Kiva let’s me bless others easily
This app allows people to borrow money and improve their lives who otherwise couldn’t get a bank loan. High interest rates make me uncomfortable but I know that they don’t have other means.
My money stays in the Kiva company and I just keep relending. It’s so much fun, too! Give it a try with only $25 to start!

Mixed feelings
On the other hand they do a couple of things I believe are stupid, maybe even underhanded.
Pay close attention when you get to checking out, because they automatically charge you a “donation” to every loan you send. If it’s a donation you should have to choose to opt into it, but they make it so you have to choose to opt out of it it instead... sneaky.
And second, I think they intentionally make it difficult to withdraw you money from the app. trying to get you to stay in. It’s a whole prodded to get it... and if you leave repayments sitting in the app too long, they automatically re-lend the money. As if it were their money to do with as they please.
This app is sneaky, so beware.

Hi! Donations to Kiva’s operating expenses are always optional, although vital to what we do. 100% of every dollar lent on Kiva goes toward funding loans, and because we don’t take a cut, we aim to support our operations through donations from our lending community. While a donation is automatically suggested during checkout, you can always opt out on the Basket page by clicking the pencil icon next to the donation amount. Then click "no donation to Kiva" to see your total amount due adjusted. Please reach out to us at contactus@kiva.org and we would be happy to void your donation and return the funds to your account. Completing withdrawals via PayPal is a manual process, and as such, takes longer than accepting funds. Kiva must manually compile all withdrawal requests, review them, and then send them to PayPal for processing. Depending on our capacity, we try to process withdrawals once a week, meaning you'll most likely see these funds in your PayPal account this coming Friday. From time to time, however, withdrawal processing can be delayed (which is why the confirmation email you should have received said it could take 1-2 weeks). Once Kiva sends withdrawn funds to PayPal, you should be able to access them immediately.
