It works as advertised

No clue why this app has so many bad reviews but I’m glad I didn’t come here first before purchasing my remote. It does everything it’s suppose to do and clone your old remote into the new is easy with the app. Maybe it got bad reviews because of the lack of default remotes in its repo? Regardless, I bought it for its remote cloning capabilities and it passes with flying colors.

Works great

I set it up for my Roku, TV and AV receiver. Then I trained the on/off buttons on the Roku setting to turn my TV and receiver on and off, and the volume controls to control my receiver. Everything I need in one setting. Just remember to point the remotes at each other during training. Don’t point the remote at your iPhone 😆

Great Universal Remote

I, too, say don’t listen to the bad reviews. I had helped a neighbor setup a SofaBaton remote last year, and I thought it was easy to do. My universal remote stopped working, so I bought a U2. Everything worked as expected. I was pleasantly surprised that I could assign a key function from a different remote on the same device. For instance, I reprogrammed the volume controls for my cable box device using the volume controls from my Vizio sound bar. This way I don’t have to switch from cable device to sound device to control channels and volume. Macro keys work well and even allow a delay between actions. I love the fact that I can program the remote with the app on my iPhone. My previous remote made me run an app on my laptop and sync with the remote using a cable. It’s so much easier to do this with my iPhone and using Bluetooth, sending it to the remote. I liked the remote so much that I replaced another universal remote I had with a U2. The app pairs with either one so I can keep them separate, which I need to do since the devices (TVs, sound bars, DVD/Blu-Ray devices are different in each room). Overall, the remote and app are great!

Nice App For a Great Device

Not sure why this app has such a low rating in the App Store. It works flawlessly for setting up your Sofabaton X1S remote. I was hesitant to download with such a low rating, but glad I did. This remote works great and is a replacement for my old Harmony 650. The app allows you to set up the remote/hub by adding devices and activities such as turning on multiple devices at once. I will admit it can take a while to get the configurations set up properly for the power settings for each device, but a little trial and error will solve the issue. Just have patience!! Don’t let the low rating keep you for downloading and using this app. I’m glad I did.

OK, as these things go

We bought a SofaBaton U1 as a replacement for the Logitech universal remotes (RIP).

As this type of software goes, it works well - if basic. It can learn from other remotes, it’s got a good library of information, and the app is updated regularly.

We got the U1 because being able to type in a channel number is important when you’ve got “cable”.

The notable thing lacking - which I hope it gets one day - is the ability to back up your settings.
Any time a remote (the hardware) fails, you have to set them up from new and if you’re anything like me that means at least 4 different pieces of “hi-fi” (Apple TV, TV, receiver, satellite box). There’s so much work with the initial setup, that if you have to do it again, you’re going to look at other options when that happens “just in case” something better has become available. If I could restore from backup - that would be an automatic re-purchase of the same product just to avoid the setup work.

On iPhones it could be saved to iCloud - to be secure and so the manufacturer didn’t have to deal with accounts too.

Proper Harmony replacement

Had Logitech and then Harmony remotes for a few years. My last one lasted almost 8 years until the battery wouldn’t hold a charge for more than one night and the hub kept losing connectivity. Wasn’t going to shell out $300+ on a savant remote that I wouldn’t be able to install or buy directly. Didn’t want to buy another Harmony. Found Sofabaton after an extensive and exhaustive search. Was a little apprehensive about the the way the UI looked. Bought it and after a few hiccups it’s worked flawlessly. Repeater on tv and receiver always send snd receive signal. Occasionally I lose signal from the remote but if I open the app it helps to recover the connection. That happens perhaps once every 6 months or so. Top notch replacement for the Harmony Elite.

Error - connecting to hub

Hub is divorced but can’t connect. Says connecting and takes upto minute, but stays in this screen forever. Sometimes it says Error E2012 and says try again. I did all the troubleshoot and still not connected

Pretty good

The app takes a little bit of working with to finally get the remote set up correctly but it’s way better than the abandoned, logitech harmony remotes. I do feel like there’s room here for improvement so I took off one star, but I was able to successfully set up the remote and control on my devices. Overall very happy!

Easy to use but buggy

This app is so easy and intuitive to use, so it’s a shame that it quite often loses setting at every opportunity. This happens when replacing batteries in the remote, or when you try to remove just one device and it removes ALL devices. It’s a surprisingly simple app so I’m a little dumbfounded how this was not tested before release? Hopefully just an easy fix’s to get right.

Better than my Harmony Companion

It took a little longer to learn and setup the app with X1 than my old Harmony, but this combo has a lot more capabilities. I even have most of the controls for the Apple TV; the only thing missing is the mic (Siri). Had to experiment a little and figured out that the Bose Solo TV speaker required repeated signal to work, but after a few hours, all five devices are working great and consistently. Also, unlike my old Harmony, I am able to create 9 activities, getting to specific streaming services with one button push. Not sure why some users are having so many problems, but I am not having any problems…so far.
