3.3.1

March 27, 2024

Critical Update. • Beginning with iOS/iPad 17.4 Apple requires all apps to have all users grant access to their device's motion & fitness sensors in order to utilize any funtionality they provide. AltitudeAlert relies on the internal pressure sensor in order to provide barometric altitude mesurement. This sensor is part of the motion & fitness privacy change and the reason you were asked to grant access to it. • Due to a subtle change that occured with iOS/iPadOS 17.4, another bug was introduced that caused the NavData downloader to crash when you attempted to download new data. That bug has been fixed.

3.2.15

May 19, 2022

• Many updates to the Ref Alt - GPS engine. The general functionality and display mirrors the Ref Alt - BARO layout more closely. The biggest change is the removal of the "Man Adj" feature. Now manual updates to correct GPS Altitude errors is handled by tapping the "Ref Alt - GPS" label when the aircraft is level at a selected altitude. This mirrors the functionality of the calibration feature when using "Ref Alt - BARO". See the User Guide for more details. • VNAV updates. When "Fixed Glidepath" in the VNAV Properties section, glidepath precision has been increased from x.x to x.xx. Minimum Altitude Constraint limit lowered from 100' to 1'. VNAV Configuration page navigation has been 'tightened' up, eliminating entry errors. • All in app alerts converted to Apple's Synthetic Vocal Engine. This lays the groundwork for custom alerts in a future update. • Corrected a bug that caused the app to crash when "Reset ALL Settings and Alerts" was toggled from the App Settings page. • Apple Watch support officially removed from app :-( • A bunch of behind the scenes optimizations.

Reviews of AltitudeAlert

  • Good option

I don’t have altitude preselect in my twin Cessna. This works fairly well especially with my GMA 345 so I almost always hear the call outs. When I slide the app from the right across FF, it works well but is hard to get back to the right off the screen. It’s one tiny spot that works. If this was adjusted would give 5 stars

    Developer Response

Hi! I'm pleased that you're finding that AltitudeAlert useful. Let me offer a couple of suggestions for you when using the app with an EFB app (Foreflight, Garmin Pilot, etc.). There are two modes available to you that take advantage of iPadOS's Multitasking feature, Split View and Slide Over. From your description, I believe you're utilizing Slide Over. The advantage of Slide Over is that you can slide the app in when you want it, then slide it out to hide it. I agree with you, it can sometimes be difficult to slide it off screen. Unfortunately, this is managed by the iPadOS. Let me suggest you try Split View. This is my preferred way of sharing AltitudeAlert and Foreflight (EFB) on the same screen*. With Split View both apps are always visible and you can adjust the presentation display of the apps to your taste. For example, Foreflight occupying 2/3 of the display while AltitudeAlert occupies the remaining 1/3. Or any other presentation you like. It's completely customizable. I've described this in detail in the User Guide and on the website. If you'd like further assistance I'd be happy to help. Just send me an email to ray@altitudealertapp.com. * To use Split View, the EFB must support it. At this time, I believe Foreflight is the only EFB that does.
