  • Timer/Connectivity Issue

One is a technical issue. Comms module for S4 Performance monitor does not always connect to app (unclear if a module or app issue). Also pausing a workout does not stop the timer which is counter-intuitive.

Also you’re unable to go back and edit notes.
  • Brilliant machine, just disappointed about the app

The WaterRower itself is a simple and brilliant bit of kit, the app is good the only issue I would say Is that if you get the heart rate monitor to put in the S4 Performance monitor the heart rate data doesn’t transfer over to the app and when your a geek like myself and like to see the data over time or pass the data to your doctor

  • Looks Modern

I’m a bit baffled by the redundancy between the S4 and this app. It counts your strokes? That’s what I spent $60 on? I already log my rows manually. The workout record is trapped in the app as far as I can tell. It seems to play nicely with Strava and Apple Health if that’s important to you. You are also blocked from plugging in the cable for “we-row” which apparently has no Bluetooth support. I feel like I’ve been taking crazy pills. WR and hi tech don’t mix.

  • Disappointing

Can’t save interval workouts so need to recreate them every row, multiple empty rows saved to Apple Health. Considering the Bluetooth module costs $99 this is a real disappointment
  • Basic info with bugs

Basic functionality, seems to display less information than what’s on the Performance Monitor on the device. Strokes count doesn’t match up with actual strokes I do and over counts.
Why do I need to create a third party account to use this? Use iCloud for backup of my data instead. Another data breach waiting to happen.
Also sends empty workouts to Health app, so now Health tells me I did 70 workouts today. Couldn’t find a Support form to submit app feedback on the site.

  • Bare Bones

This app looks sleek. And when I first set it up it seemed to work nice and easily with my Bluetooth Comm. I connected it to Strava and it uploaded my first two workouts. I also found it connected quickly to my TickrX HRM.

However, today it wouldn’t upload my workout to Strava. Then I found that I could add manual activities, but not delete them. And when I looked for a help section or a way to contact app support I haven’t found a thing or a way to contact support.

So when the app works it works great. Doesn’t have bells and whistles, but it looks nice and does what it needs to do. However, when it doesn’t work there doesn’t seem to be any way to get any help or support which is very frustrating.

  • Works with FDF rowers

I have First Degree Fitness Apollo V, and this is one of the few apps that works with it, and for a free app it is miles ahead of their original one.

However, it does lack some features. I’d like to be able to delete a workout (haven’t found how to). And calories count passed to Apple Health is accumulated set of averages per point, which leads to 20 min workout burn about 160,000 cal.

  • Connect to comma unit

Would like to see connect to the comma unit w/o having to reconnect
  • Buggy syncing

The app is pretty good during a workout, but sometimes it fails to recognise I’ve started rowing; what’s weird is the workout will then appear in Apple Health but not the WaterRower app. It also sometimes exports 3 separate workouts to Apple Health, where two of them are just for 0s and then need deleting manually.

It also doesn’t export the distance to Apple Health, which would really help to visualise the workout in other apps like Zones. I’ve also turned on Strava sync, but so far nothing is appearing there.

Honestly if they’d just export reliably to Apple Health with the distance I’d give it 5 stars.

  • Good idea but a few problems

The water rower is great! Bought the extra Bluetooth monitor so I can log distance etc in Apple health but I end up with several workouts logged showing no Minites or calories! Just a list of workouts when I’ve only done one. So then have to manually delete all of them. Not sure how to fix this so find myself avoiding using it and just doing an Apple fitness plus workout to log my data instead.
