  • Excellent to track books

I began searching for an app after struggling for a while to remember which books I already owned and which I still needed. I love that this app is SO EASY to use. I come home and scan them right away, and add them to a bookshelf. I spent a good few hours entering in my collection at first, and there were only a handful I needed to search for and add manually, otherwise batch scanning the barcodes was pretty efficient. After that I can organize them however I’d like, and it’s easy to search a title to check if I own it already or not. I have the free version and it is so useful on its own even without the pro extras.

  • So helpful!

I love to thrift shop books and I tend to forget which ones I already own, so having my entire collection on this app lets me check which ones I need and which ones I don’t
  • Library

For someone you travels a lot Im always looking to increase my hard cover book collection . I have a lot of incomplete series and this app works amazing to make sure I don’t buy duplicates . I have a large selection and used to forget which boxes I was missing. This works great for this purpose !
  • Best free library app

Very searchable, easy to add numerous books quickly (batch scanning by upc code), no limit, can put in notes/keywords for searching, add older books manually and it doesn’t charge you once you hit a limit of books. Transferable across devices, stores your library so if your phone is lost you don’t lose it. I use it for a large work collection as well as a personal collection - can help you know what you’ve got especially when looking at books and completing a series! Highly recommended!

  • Freedom in the Tracks

I’m not a heavy user of apps on the phone, but I have grown, especially fond of bookshelf. Being a free app, it had the potential to be something not too sturdy, but that has not been the case as I have used over the past seven months because I have a way to log where I am in several books without using random bookmarks, although I still have them, my reading habit has been stronger and consistent because of using this app. I’ve already recommended it to many friends and even a few strangers who also like to read so if you don’t already have it, download it and enjoy your reading journey, the title of this review is in reference to trains the train is powerful, but I can’t go anywhere without its respective tracks. Therefore, this app becomes the “tracks” needed for your powerful reading train!

  • My only requests

Firstly, I have never come across an app that does not support Split View, is understand not supporting stage manager but lacking the most basic device level functionality of being able to multitask is unacceptable imo. This is a basic functionality that *must* be implemented. There is nothing in the design of this app that requires it to be full screen at all times. This is an insane decision for me. This is an absolute dealbreaker. Once this is implemented I will happily amend my review and happily pay a monthly sub over a lifetime purchase to support the app. But this basic functionality must be implemented.

Secondly, As a strictly e-book only reader I would really love an option to filter the book search somehow, quite often there are many copies or editions of the same book and having to manually tap into each one to see if it’s the e-book one becomes quite time consuming, I’m lucky if I find one at all which I appreciate isn’t the fault of the app itself and instead the API it pulls data from, but it would be 100x faster to know whether there is no ebook version if I can set a filter or preference for e-book only in the search feature. A wonderful app otherwise, privacy friendly, incredibly reasonable price point with a one off purchase option as well as a subscription, well designed and overall nice to use.
