This app is a fabulous toll for students with emerging language. The way that the app is set up is very user friendly, and the songs are very catchy. I have loved the fact that the songs give a brief explanation of what the word means. Identifying the words is a game to ensure recognition and comprehension, and one of the best features is tracking word acquisition. RESEARCH HISTORY
Sing to Say was originally developed for children with autism and learning language challenges. Research shows that music and language are acquired in different parts of the brain. Sing to Say uses music to bridge to the language centers. We first investigated the effects of music on learning language for children with autism and expressive language delay.
Working with teachers, parents and therapists, we conducted two
phases of FORMATIVE RESEARCH including focus groups with educators, parents, and user testing with children in six schools at the Toronto District School Board.
