The app ever!

If you want to learn Chinese this is the app. A large choice of levels and categories not just hsk. Large clear character display. Neat design to help get the meaning and remember the character. Dark mode a must to save my eyes. Now with a multi choice also to test yourself. If your serious about learning the language then this is one you want to have to keep your interest going and keep improving. 👍

Efficient design

The frontend is very simple, ingenious and aesthetically beautiful, so it's always a pleasure to spend so much time on this app.

Very good

I don’t usually leave reviews but this is genuinely an amazing app. Probably the best part is how minimalist it is, no game mechanics or annoying graphics, helps me stay focused on just memorizing lots and lots of words. I just got the premium version and it is definitely worth it. Great work from these developers, especially since some other language apps (looking at you Duolingo) have gone off the deep end into annoying and unhelpful “features”. It would be nice to have a way of searching through your learned words, but in general the ai mechanic gives quite good explanations of terms. Maybe add a pack for 成语?

Thank you so much for your kind review! It really means a lot. For idioms, be sure to check out the "Essential Idioms" and "Advanced Idioms" word packs in the "Language Mastery" section.

in love

i never write reviews but i was shocked to see how little reviews there are when the app is such high quality. i memorised characters really quickly on this app and i’ve only been on it for 10 minutes. the graphics are beautiful! the integrated ai is really helpful to remember the characters. i love it :)

Great, simple app for daily learning

This is exactly what I was looking for! Wanted to learn a few HSK 4 words every day and it has all HSK level packages included so you can just set up a number of words to learn (and practice the learned ones). The only drawback is that there is no option to multi-select words to mark as known in bulk. Otherwise a perfect, elegant solution.
Note: isn’t 联系 HSK4? I think it’s missing.

Actually makes me review Chinese but lacking examples

I’m an American born Chinese that took a few Chinese classes in Highschool. It’s been a while since I learned and studied new words. But it’s been easier with this app. I really like that they have high hsk packs for intermediate folks. The already know option is great and helps avoid memorizing words you already know.

The only thing is it’s missing examples. Words I’ve never heard of before are difficult to understand/use without examples. I have to use another app like Pleco or search online at yellowbridge to see how it might be used especially if it has multiple meanings.

All aside, fantastic free app.

Now I Have To Pay?

I’ve been using this app for half a year to re-learn mandarin, and up until the recent update I have loved it, it has been perfect. Simple, easy to use, and most importantly, it didn’t cost money to open all reviews at once. I was very excited when I got the email about the update that included new HSK as I would be able to continue learning. In the email itself it never mentioned that one of the best features of this app, the ability to open as many reviews as there are packs, which has been free, is now something I will have to pay for if I wish to add any new vocabulary packs, or I will have to forfeit all of my progress so far. If you wished to do a subscription service, you should have added a new feature (such as the ability to combine all review words into one review), instead of locking a feature that had formerly been free behind a paywall. Because of this, I will no longer be able to use your app the way I have been, which is incredibly unfortunate for me. Even if, perhaps, new vocabulary packs cost a small, one time fee, that would be better than this, and I would have paid for those. These changes are a bit too much, especially when the email did not make clear that this “new feature” would be paid. I give two stars because I have gotten such great use of this app in the past, but the most important part of this app, for me, is no longer available, so I cannot rate higher.
Please reconsider this. Thank you.

amazing app!!!

really grateful to the developers for making it free - this is education as it should be: accessible to all

btw i think there is a mistake in the translation for 把 - can you double check?

Response from developer

Thank you for checking out the app and for your great review. I will take a look at the definition for that word. Thanks!

Great tool for being able to read.

I love this app, it’s a good app,but I hope developers see this because I wish it was great. One thing for starters in when I flip the card it would be nice to have the character also on that flipped side. I find my self having to speed run first knowing the sound of it ignoring the meaning, then going back and only doing the opposite side. Also an example sentence using this new word we learn would help contextually visualize how it will be used. EVEN better would be if there was a way to make the sample sentence using mostly words we already know. Maybe highlight part of the sentence green for words we learned and maybe red for ones coming up and if we click it it could show a brief meaning. I have so many more ideas but that all depends if the developers only want to make a flash card app or something way more all in one learning resource. I’m currently using this app, pimsleur, anki, various drawing apps for stroke orders and ally’s more so I’ve been around the block here.

Pronunciation is off

Gave this app a 6 day test .
On day 7 it showed me a word that was 100% mispronounced !

So I asked a native speaking person to read the Chinese character and listen to the pronunciation . They came back with the same result I had, the app is not pronouncing the word correctly.

On the plus side. This app shows the Chinese character in a very large font so the person learning can actually study what it looks like. One other Chinese learning app I am using - the font is so tiny the character is too hard to see !

Fixed your pronunciation problems and I will up level to a higher star rating .
