Update fixed *Was great but doesn’t seem to work on iPhone 16 Pro
Have their subscription works very well we use it for documenting dimensions on job sites. Upgraded to a new phone and hope that it gets updated for compatibility.

Doesn’t work on iPhone 16 Pro Max
Don’t buy if you have a new iPhone 16 model.
On my iPhone 16 Pro Max it uses the telephoto lens and lidar isn’t found either, so it is completely unusable.
On my old phone it worked fine, however I have a subscription that I pay for and now can’t use it anymore. I sent an email to the developer a month ago, but didn’t get any response.
They need to update the software asap.

Amazing with 3D models!
This is by far the best 3D model scanner I have found so far.

This is a wonderful app. Works superbly and simply. But with my new IPhone 16 it won’t access the close up camera.??

Super 3D capture app.
After the exploring all the 3D capture apps I could, a few years back when the iPhone 13pro came out, I decided that Metascan produced the best results.
Since then I’ve happily purchased the app for a few years now, with only one snag being that if the subject is quite large, (such as a fishing trawler, or railway station) the photogrammetry output is sometimes reduced in scale.
Presumably this is a limitation which many people will not run into and I have always found the LiDAR based outputs to be to scale and with only a few cm error when using the measurement tool. Also I found opening the output scans in Blender was a good idea for cleaning up “blobs” which sometimes occur when capturing with LiDAR.
Recently Polycam have upped their game and I may well start using their app as well, mainly for the floor plan outputs which Metascan are yet to make part of their offering.
If you are looking for an excellent app to start your 3D capture journey, you can’t go wrong with Metascan and hopefully the app developers will soon bring out some new features, such floor plans, to bring it up to par with its competitors, making it a very powerful tool.

Lidar doesn’t work, buggy, things don’t get fixed
Big fan in the beginning been subscribed for more than a year, but nothing gets fixed and the devs ignore my questions and concerns. The lidar function crashes the app. In the forums they mention an update, but the only update I see was 5 mo ago. I’m disappointed. The ui experience is off, the menus get cut off on some devices.. Honestly until they work on this app, I would recommend you use Polycam or another scanner. Don’t pay for a product with broken and missing parts. Sorry!
