  • Nice looking app but no idea how local the info actually is.

1st, nice looking app -clean, moderately intuitive, easy to narrow in on my specific allergens.
2nd, I like the idea of having actual local pollen counters for real-time data. I’m in MA, nothing near me, per your list of sensored areas. $8200 is kinda steep for me to think about getting one of those devices own my own, to have a sensor in my region.
3rd, If the cost of putting a device in the area for no cost to end users, and people won’t shell out that kind of money, maybe a subscription model with enough users to pay for a sensor nearby could be an answer. I’d be willing to subscribe to something if it were truly local to me.
4th, if not enough subscribers, I’d thing local communities (cities/towns/etc) might be approachable, getting one as a service to its citizens.
5th, your site mentions leasing a station, but there’s apparently no information to support that statement.

    Thanks for listening

  • Hourly Updates

    Update to my update:
My local sensor is back!! Woohoo!

    Current 4PM readings (%):

    • Sensor 1 mile away = 23 Tree, 21 Grass, 11 Mold
    • Sensor 20 miles north = 64 Tree, 21 Grass, 11 Mold
    • Sensor 20 miles south = 65 Tree, 21 Grass, 44 Mold

It really does make a difference in an area like mine that has microclimates (lots of variation in elevation and coastal/inland changes).

    Update:
When I originally started using the app, I was 1 mile away from a sensor. For whatever reason, that sensor stopped yesterday and now I’m 20 miles away.

Living in an area of microclimates makes this app less useful now where I live. Data from 20 miles away can’t help me, no matter how well it’s presented.

    Original:
I researched this and couldn’t find another app this granular—every HOUR I can see the tree, grass, mold, and weed pollen/spores.

I can finally predict allergy symptoms AND explain to others by showing them actual supporting data! Thank you!

Now in the latest update, it shows a percentage (I assume that is the same type of percentage as they mention in the in-app notes). This app was beyond compare before, but now it just blows the others away!

The only other app that compares in functionality doesn’t have or use enough sensors. But PollenWise has a sensor 1 mile from my house! Perfect!

Thanks for the comments. We haven't decommissioned any devices, so the sensor should come back online soon. While it is great to have a device a mile away, studies show that the other device will be extremely useful too.
  • No longer seeing allergens in Austin

I love the app/data this provides, but as of last week I’m no longer seeing info for my area. The app states there is a collector 14 miles away, but not sure if it’s under maintenance or no longer collecting?
  • Much better than the others

A real, local pollen station gives the results. Not an algorithm based on your general location, weather, and time of year. And nicely presented, too.
  • Exceptional

This app is already helping me track my symptoms to correlate what’s happening outside and it’s only the first day I have the app. The best allergy app out of all the rest on apple App Store. Thanks PollenWise for helping me help myself feel better this season!
  • One of a kind!

Very useful and simple to use yet very valuable for a better quality life!
  • Best app for my daily health!

Thanks to PollenWise I have figure out and overcome my allergies, now I know what to look for and what to expect day to day. Instead of taking an allergy pill daily I can watch for when to do it, saving me money and helping me plan. The app allows me to track how I feel daily so I can gather the info for my personal allergies. It’s GENIUS! Highly recommend everyone get this and keep track for yourself!

  • Fantastic

My husband has awful allergies, and this app has been wonderfully helpful for us!
  • Tame yer allergies

I use this so pretty much every day to see when or if I need to take an allergy pill or when to walk the dog or go for a run. Finally an allergy forecast that is smart and responsive.
  • Very Very Good but...

Am located near the natIonal NOAA, a very important site to monitor weather and hurricanes. I am surprised that there is not a pollen sensor closer than about 232 miles away. There is also an abundance of pine trees and a logging industry here, but your site doesn’t have pine pollen listed. Wish for both of these. Already put in my vote. Thanks.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your feedback on Pollen Wise! We're always looking to deploy more sensors, so keep an eye out for where new ones pop up. Additionally, if you live in the same climate zone as the closest sensor, you can still receive benefits from the pollen forecasts even if they are quite far away.
