2024 version has bugs
The new 2024 app displays incorrect episode descriptions, which is frustrating. They also removed the feature that allowed you to easily scrub forward or back 10 seconds just by pressing the right or left buttons on your remote. Navigating through videos now takes several additional clicks and is less precise. Last, TOH has an iconic logo and blue color scheme! Why on earth is the new icon dull gray with the entire phrase “This Old House” jammed on it in minuscule print?

Great show, buggy app
App is just kind of sloppy. The show descriptions are for shows for other seasons, the shows sometimes feed into the next episodes but sometimes lock up and crash the app instead, if you need closed captions, you have to turn them on for each and every show, etc. Endlessly frustrating. However, the content is extremely valuable and presented in a lucid and entertaining way.

Impossible to navigate between episodes
We love Ask This Old House and watching it without commercials. However, it’s very frustrating to use this app! It’s not possible to go back once an episode is playing and going to the next episode doesn’t always work. I have to completely delete the app and download it again almost every time. I have sent e-mails about these issues with no reply & no improvement in the app. There must be someone who can fix those problems!

Crashes a lot, no rotation lock, no “continue where you left off”
Crashes a lot, very buggy rotation lock support, no “continue where you left off” - you gotta remember what season and episode you were on. Sounds like these bugs have been around for years for a paid content? Unacceptable, devs.
Liked it before the last update.
Before the last update, I could open it in landscape orientation with. I problems. Now, it defaults to portrait orientation until you start playing a video. I often use it in a hands free setup, and can’t easily change the orientation to read the episodes. It makes it harder to pick up where I left off.

App needs work
Content is amazing but the app needs work. On iPad it does not support landscape mode, constantly skips episodes, and does not support Chromecast.

Long-time viewer, first-time complainer. Twenty million viewers and you still can't bother to fix your glitchy app? Come on, TOH Ventures. Can't we all just get along? It constantly freezes up on an episode and the only way to back out is to restart my Apple tv. It's really frustrating when all I want to do is sit down and relax to a few episodes of TOH.

Can’t play more than one episode. AppleTV
I was so excited to be able to watch all the episodes of This Old House and immediately signed up for the monthly subscription. But you can only watch one episode. Then you have to force quit the app and launch it again. The back button on the remote doesn’t do anything. Please fix this! Unacceptable. This is on AppleTV

AppleTV app is broken
You cannot exit a video on the AppleTV app, you essentially have to force quit the entire application.
It’s a shame that such a fantastic show is impaired by this application. Aside from fixing the bugs, it needs to be modernized and integrate with ATV Up Next, be able to mark episodes as watched or unwatched.

Treasures locked away
I am reviewing the AppleTV app: I love TOH, but this app is terrible. It’s the only way to view most of the seasons, but it’s extremely frustrating—often it won’t let you exit from a video, you have to hard restart the app; it doesn’t remember your last viewed episode, so you have to remember that; and, it won’t let you exit from a video!
If you love TOH, you will endure. But this app needs to be better.
