Reviews of PBS

  • Ann

I have always wanted to see this play and my membership at OETA - PBS for Oklahoma - has allowed me to do it finally. I was a Theatre major in college and did a goodly share of acting, directing and other theatre jobs for a fantastic community theatre in Moline, IL. I worked with the best people which formed a terrific theatre company, almost a repertory group, doing six plays a year. Unfortunately, I had to give up my non-paying dream job to face the reality of my real job which offered me a position which would pay my children’s tuition to college but would move us 900 miles south. No easy commute. It was a no brainer.

I have been a contributor for many years but had to quit this last year. I decided to rejoin because of Passport and I’m so glad I did. There are so many TV programs, series and plays that Passport offers. It is an added perk which makes the monthly contribution a bargain. Consider your contribution as buying a third-party streaming station that I think you’ll find more value because it is not just movies.
  • Intelligent, thought-provoking meaningful programming

PBS is a true benefit to society.
i’m watching “invisible shield“. ironically, the name is unassuming, but the content is incredibly engaging. The show focuses on the long-standing efforts of a collaboration of scientist, medical and healthcare professionals, epidemiologists, sociologists, ecologists, and every discipline in between to pull together data to change policy and upstream factors to improve human health.
The show highlights the power of data, the power of collaboration, the focus on equity and justice.
If you ask people, they cannot tell you what public health is. Because it is everywhere. It is in the water, the air, our food, the safety of our workplaces and streets, programs to prevent poverty and to support people experiencing poverty.
That is “public health”. Thanks PBS!!!
  • PBS Passport Best Streaming Deal Ever!

I thoroughly enjoy the high quality, diverse offerings on PBS Passport. Masterpiece Theater alone is sterling. I am addicted to All Creatures… and loved the recent program Nolly. I marathoned The Durerells of Corfu and look forward to each new season of Grantchester. Individual shows like Frontline, American Experience, Nature, and so many more are fascinating! Monthly themed offerings are always timely and pay tribute to the rich cultural contributions of our mosaic of diversity. I so much enjoyed the programs related to the indigenous, Native American experience, in the past and today. The Ken Burns collection is outstanding! I recommend PBS Passport to family and friends all the time and tell them it is easily the very best streaming bargain available.
