  • Only Yesterday Screw Up!!!

Only Yesterday is my favorite Miyazaki anime, and I have watched it more than a few times. This time, I was watching it with my youngest child and we were enjoying the movie pretty well until the finale. It’s a travesty of obtuse injustice to such a classic because the final few minutes, the climax, was shrinked, dominated by the what to watch watch more screen, zoomed out of full screen, redundantly!! In my selfishness, I blocked my child’s view so he couldn’t even see that small small screen probably big enough for the eyes of a few flies. You may think that it’s just an oversight of the editor to perform such a silly error but to people who haven’t seen the film, they would be thinking the story ended with Taeko going back to the city and that’s the end of that!! Now, the most important part of the movie was that final few minutes when Taeko’s childhood spirit friends appeared, pulling and lulling her to reminiscence on her life and what’s truly important to her, culminating in her decision to jump into the train going into the opposite train so she could begin a new life, marrying the farmer guy who loved her with all his heart. Without dialogue and a bewitching soundtrack, those scenes were some of the most wonderful and poignant scenes in the history of cinema, a perfect ending! To make it so small is to defeat the purpose of showing it in the first place!!!
  • Extremely glitchy

Since HBO just made me waste time now I’m gonna actually sit down and take the time to write my thought.
I have no complaints about the content. By far id say HBO is my favorite of all streaming platforms when it comes to the content. However, I cannot say the same about the app itself. It is the most outdated out of all of them. It constantly signs me out from my phone, and my TV. Not only that but also, HBO is the only app that doesn’t give you an option to sign in to Roku TV through my phone. I still have to manually put my info with the remote. I did it twice and both times it kicked me back out to the sign in screen…. it takes long enough already to type in an entire email plus the password plus fixing any typos, only for it to kick me back out to the home screen like I never even signed in. So frustrating and such a waste of time.

Also, the app freezes up alot on my phone. I have to close it and open it again. Not only that, but after I close it, whatever show I’m watching keeps on playing for another five seconds before it finally closes.

  • Ongoing login problems; no response

Since ios 17/tvos 17 were released, Max has been a nightmare. I need to sign-in every day or every other day and it isn’t a simple process. To watch on my Apple TV, I need to log out of Max (even though it won’t let me watch, I am in fact logged in). Then, I need to log out and log back in on my iPhone or iPad. Note that Max doesn’t use the native cable provider (Spectrum) login that EVERY OTHER STREAMING APP uses but instead forces a manual login with user name and password. I’ve opened 3 tickets with technical support and have never received a response. At one point, the customer support person told me that there were no other tickets on my account which means that previous support people never properly submitted the tickets they said they did. Why make this so difficult, Max? It seems like you might be trying to pressure users who have access through cable to switch to a direct sub. That seems highly unethical, so maybe your engineers just aren’t very good.

Update: I received a quick response after posting this review. I followed the directions to open a ticket through the link provided. That same day, I received a message back that it was the wrong link and I needed to start over. Will keep updating on the wild misadventures of Max support.
