Please Please Please Please fix the app!!
This Old House may be my favorite thing in the world. I LOVE the fact that I can watch all the seasons. But the app has RIDICULOUS problems. One of the biggest is that currently, it often won’t allow you exit an episode and go back to the main menu. I keep having to delete the app and reinstall it. Kevin, Tommy, Richard - rattle some cages there and get this fixed so we can keep watching! And keep up the great work!!

Unable to exit videos
As other posters have mentioned, once in a video, there is no way to exit. On AppleTV the menu button just rewinds the video about 2 seconds - as if I’d hit the back arrow. I reported this issue a few years ago via email (via link found in the app) and they fixed this exact issue. So sad to see the exact same issue return a few years later. And even sadder that the Apple App Store validation process doesn’t catch this MAJOR usability bug.
On the iPhone app, the support page has no words next to the links any longer, just white space. Though after clicking the links it does briefly show what the link does. And, like the AppleTV app, once you start a full screen video, there is no way to exist the video without force closing the app.
Since the Roku purchase of TOH it seems quality has become the last thing they care about for all other platforms. I guess it’s time to vote with my $$ and cancel my subscription.

AppleTV Version
If TOH built like these developers do then every one of the projects would have burnt down or fallen over by now.
Once you select an option to watch in the app there’s no getting back to the menu. You have to back all the way out, remove the app from memory then select something else.

One good thing…
Once you open the app and start an episode there is no way to stop it and switch to another episode. You have to finish what you started and then it goes to the next episode. I wanted to share an episode with a family member who’s doing some remodeling, but no way to do that either!!! I expected more from a show that is one of the best, longest running and most enjoyable there is…

Streaming good but…..
I enjoy steaming the episodes on the Apple TV app but once I start to watch it won’t let me go back to the main screen to choose someone else on the menus, it just keeps streaming episode after episode with no way to get out of it.
App is as Bad as the show is Good
Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE the folks on This Old House. It’s just disappointing that I cannot watch a video on AppleTV or an iOS device without having to restart the app. The videos play fine, but you cannot exit them or scrub through them! This is table stakes stuff. I’m sure the app was working fine and has become incompatible with newer iOS updates, but there really should be some developers available to make these tweaks as needed. Really bummed.

Menu button doesn’t work
With the latest Apple TV version (running latest tv iOS) the menu button no longer allows you to exit video playback, there’s currently no way to exit a video once it’s playing, making the app essentially unusable. Love the app otherwise, please fix!

On iPhone, check the home improvement shorts, play one, go full screen… it hangs every time.
App needs some work but the nostalgia…
I started watching This Old House with my mom every Thursday night as a newborn baby in 1985. My first memories of the show kick in around season 11. The nostalgia is untouchable. Norm, Tommy, Steve, Roger. If you know, you know.
They also have The New Yankee workshop episodes which will never be topped in terms of thoroughness and quality.

This old menu button
The app is well designed and works ok, except for the menu button. It doesn’t allow you to go back to the main menu page after you start an episode. You have to restart the AppleTV to get if to allow you access of the apps home page.
