Description of Medichec

Use Medichec to find out if commonly prescribed medicines could be contributing to, or causing memory problems, dizziness or drowsiness. Medichec has been designed as an accurate, easy to use tool, to score the anticholinergic effect of widely used medications in healthcare, along with information on whether they may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Medichec is based on the latest research and up to date scientific information and has been created by senior clinicians and academics in collaboration with healthcare app design experts. Medichec is already used in London teaching hospitals to improve the quality of patient care and is recommended in a number of policies and guidelines. The anticholinergic effects of medications are increasingly recognised as an important factor in cognitive impairment. The 2018 NICE dementia guidelines recommend medication is assessed for anticholinergic effects to limit iatrogenic cognitive impairment. - Type in the medication and Medichec calculates an immediate score - Easy to use, step by step process and advisory traffic light system - Option to add details of drug dosage and frequency - Designed, built and tested with clinicians and academics - Over 2000 drugs regularly reviewed and updated - Suitable for clinicians, carers or individuals interested in knowing more about their medication - Easy to save assessments for later, download them as a PDF or send them via email Note: It is important to remember that in addition to using this app for advice, you should always consult a medical professional before making any changes to your medications or treatment.
