Description of GoSwim

Since 2001, GoSwim.tv has produced over 3,000 videos on swimming technique. We have worked with more than 60 Olympic athletes as well as beginning-level swimmers and all levels in-between. In that time, GoSwim was honored with the Paragon Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame and became the Official Technique Video App for United States Swimming. THERE’S A REASON USA SWIMMING USES GOSWIM Learning the details of swimming is a search, a process with a path toward general improvement, and the need for the individual to follow specific steps suited only to them. GoSwim has produced content that not only follows progressions, patterns, and more general paths, but we’ve also produced content that serves the content that can help the individual learn their specific needs. Because of the vast content library, created over the past 20 years, USA Swimming uses GoSwim videos in its Athlete Development Module for online education. No platform has created as many teaching options for customized learning as GoSwim. WHY YOU SHOULD USE GOSWIM Simply put, we’re real education. Education is now combined with your performance data to recommend the most appropriate videos based on your data. Get the videos you need when you need them the most. Our goal is to help you become the best swimmer you can be. This means a staged approach to learning the fundamentals of swimming. There are things you MUST do to have the CHANCE to reach your potential in swimming. We’ll be honest about how the process takes time, and about how spending more time learning the fundamentals will help you create a better experience long term. There are no shortcuts, just as there are no shortcuts in learning how to play an instrument or learning martial arts. You must mast a step before moving to the next,or the next step won’t be as effective. In other words, we’re honest about the process. WHY DOES GOSWIM UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS SO WELL We’ve lived the process as athletes, coaches, and educators. Co-Founders Glenn Mills and Barbara Hummel had extensive competitive careers. Glenn won the US Olympic Trials, Finaled at World Championships, won the Division 1 NCAA Championships, and has set Masters Swimming World Records. Barbara swam in 2-Olympic Trials, has set Masters World Records, and has been coaching for the past 25 years. Taking a very logical approach to swim, both Glenn and Barbara take an honest approach to teaching, workout creation, and swimmer evaluation. Glenn spent more than 16 months in an RV, traveling the United States. Visiting more than 80 teams and filming more than 10,000 lengths of swimming, he learned the typical problems swimmers have, but more importantly, how to fix them. WHAT SHOULD YOU UNDERSTAND First, knowledge acquisition,or learning a new skill, does take time. Swimming is a complex series of movements that must be coordinated with a balanced body and an understanding of the sequenced timing of each stroke. By creating courses that walk you through the step-by-step building blocks of each stroke, you can take each skill and learn it independently of all the others and master it more completely. Rushing through the process can leave you frustrated with the final result, so we encourage you to take small steps and focus on one skill at a time. While we won’t restrict you from jumping around in the app, most content will follow a learning progression. This means we want you to watch and practice a skill more than just a few times before clicking the “I own it. Ready to move on.” button. You’ll notice you’ll get credit for completing a lesson, and we hope that by the time you finish 100% of the lessons in a course, you’re a better and more knowledgeable swimmer Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Reviews of GoSwim

  • Expertise is hard to find (and under appreciated)!

I discovered Go Swim years ago when I was a competitive triathlete. Having recently decided to start swimming again (mainly to lose weight), I see that MySwimPro practically has a monopoly in the digital swimming market. And, it seems great for workout sets. But, it’s missing the in depth technique work that everyone needs! So, I plan on supplementing my training plan there with lessons & technique work from Go Swim. I searched google & YouTube as well, and Go Swim is STILL the best resource for swimming education. It seems like a well kept secret, and not that surprising in the digital age, as true expertise seems a thing of the past:( Thanks, Go Swim!
  • Awesome customer support!

I received immediate customer support from
Glenn after leaving a review here and using the ‘contact us’ option within the app. He worked with me until the problem was resolved. So happy, because I love and rely on the great contact provided with the videos and webinars. Good organization on website or within app the sequence skills and sort for different topics.
    So helpful!
  • CAN’T UNSUBSCRIBE!

THEY’RE SENDING ME USELESS EMAILS EVERY DAY AND I CAN’T UNSUBSCRIBE!

I signed up for emails (without having to create an account) when this was a free service. I don’t blame them for switching to a paid service. The problem is, I’m still getting emails from them daily. And all the emails do (now) is provide a link to content I can no longer access. In order to change my email preferences I need to “sign in”, which I can’t do because I don’t have an account. To get an account I need to sign up for one of their paid services. So the only way they’ll let me stop getting emails is if I pay for their service. Ridiculous, and if it’s not fixed soon I’ll be reporting them and seeking damages.

    Developer Response

Sorry for the trouble. First, all account, even free one had to create an account to see the free daily video. The new site maintains the free daily video for existing users, and we can be reached without logging in through the chat on the website. We apologize for any trouble not being able to unsubscribe and our devs are working on a better solution, but members who belong to groups may have multiple groups so the simple unsubscribe is more difficult that unsubscribing from the regular weekly newsletter. Visit the site, www.goswim.tv, let us know the email you wish removed from the system, and we'll delete all data and email from our site. No problem and no questions. Hope that helps.
