Orion is now my Daily Driver browser
Because I now have a choice, I will not browse without the uBlock Origin plug-in shielding me from eavesdropping by Big Tech, and other malware. Disconnect and Cookie AutoDelete are other highly-regarded plug-ins that are unavailable if you’re using your Dad’s browser on iPhone or iPad.
I refuse to use surveillance-funded apps or services. As their site says, “Orion is 100% funded by its users; no ads and no third party deals ever.”
At the moment the most recent update of Orion on my iPad is hanging on launch (which it didn’t do before the November 26 update), perhaps aggravated by my bazillion-tabs-open browsing habits. It’s 100% fine on iPhone, and the Orion team and participating users are super-dedicated in keeping it one of the most reliable and stable browsers I’ve ever used, so I’m sure that this glitch will be solved in a few days.
If you want a better life online, I can highly recommend crawling out from under the rock that keeps people using default and “popular” browsers. Remember: ants outnumber humans by a big margin on this planet, but you don’t need to be one.
