  • Less functional than previous version and it has ad advertising

If you add advertising, you must offer something be better than the previous version. The new version is less functional.
When I I open the previous version, see camping areas within in a large radius of my home. With a new application, and the same filters, I see nothing.

Hi Ben, both version syncronize all their places and check-ins in about two weeks time. Have you downloaded the places by clicking on the red alert sing in the top right corner? Right next to the words "no places found"?
  • Intrusive Ads & Only 1 State

I live in Kansas City and it’s literally in two states, only being able to view 1 state at a time is not usable and not a feature that I’m going to pay for.

I don’t mind ads, but multiple full-screen ads are terrible to navigate and the way they pop up without warning can sometimes interrupt clicking a button (instead opening an ad).

    I would like to see…
    - downloads based on area rather than state (like X free miles around you).
    - the misleading “free space” be more descriptive. I doubt every state has the same number of “data points”…
    - ads that aren’t intrusive to navigation.
  • Horrible

Used the app religiously as a f/t van lifer for the past year and the upgrade is such a disappointment. As far as I can tell so far, each state has to be downloaded (with $ subscription) to see content. You guys are myopic - the app will be useless over time without the generous contribution from users. How many contributors are gong to now pay for an inferior app and experience?

    Developer Response

Hi, thanks for your feedback. All our top contributors got free upgrades for a lifetime, we will try to continue this programm. But please have in mind, that 97% of our users contribute nothing.
  • Major downgrade from v1 experience

As a long-time user of iOverlander v1, I’m astonished by how poorly executed the v2 user interface is in comparison. It’s not only unintuitive, but also more difficult to operate and visually navigate. The map is hard to read, making it more dangerous to glance at while driving. The banner ad at the top is a major design flaw that feels almost comical.

Adding a subscription model on top of something this poorly designed makes me want to switch to another app immediately. Anything would be better than this monstrosity.

    Developer Response

Hi, both of our apps aren´t designed to use them as a tool to navigate. You can copy the coordinates or use the redirection of your phone to a tool you prefer.
  • Useless

I have used the legacy app for years. This new version does not work at all on a new iPad. The map will not show a single site. The legacy version shows sites and is much easier to use.
  • HORRIBLE ADs

I understand the necessity of ads but 2 out of 2 times I got an ad and I can’t get past it. No X to cancel out after you have watched it or the X doesn’t work. I get stuck on the ad and can’t move on. I’ll give them time to fix this OBVIOUS bug, but I might have to delete this app.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your feedback, we are working on this.
  • Terrible

Almost un-usable. Please don’t do away with the original. This version is horrible
  • Where’s the value add here?

Can someone explain what the upside of this app is now? Other than selling me the data I contributed to it? Update: offline maps worked fine before if you downloaded offline Apple Maps, the main value add is it’s free to some people now. 😂

    Developer Response

Hi, thanks for your question. There are a lot of new features, like offline maps, favorites, new possibilities to filter. We gave away thousands of free upgrades for our top contributors and hope we will keep this program running.
  • Freezes Up

I used the previous version with no problems for years, and considered it one of the best for wild camping. With this version I get stuck in a loop to download the NOAA app: it keeps popping up and the close button for NOAA is very small, at the top and almost off screen on my Apple phone, so it’s nearly impossible to close. I will have to delete this version of IOverlander if I can’t find a way around it.
  • Used for 6 years - switching to a new app

Not being able to see the map spots unless you download each individual state now is silly.
Monthly subscription is also wild. Holding people hostage with ads now is such a great upgrade :)
Free and no ads to full of ads, unless you pay.
    The capitalism game reigns again.
You need to make money to pay for updates and upgrades - I’d rather the old outdated app if these are the “updates and upgrades”
Was using IOverlander with other apps since 2018 as a full time road traveler.
