Leave a Review FINAL FANTASY VI
The Best Pixel Remaster
It goes without saying that in Squares PR Games this is the one everyone was expecting to benefit the most. And correctly so FF6 has the most improvements and updates to to this remaster that there is practically no reason to return to the other versions (except GBA). So I’ll keep my review brief and only focused on the iOS experience. Whether you’re playing on iPhone or iPad the game is stunning with text, maps, and models clearly visible no matter the resolution. And as of now THERE IS CONTROLLER SUPPORT but with a few exceptions like naming characters. Overall if great way to pick up and play the game, little pricey but this is the one everyone recommends and wanted to get anyways so worth the price tag.Show lessToo many changes.
The soundtrack is neat how they recorded it with real instruments, but they changed a lot of things like making it more difficult to run from battle and other things. The spell “reraise” will not prevent you from getting a game over. For the first time in my gaming history (outside of time control events or special circumstances) I got a game over while my entire team was still alive.
One major appeal to this game was the possibility to beat it at a very low level which was challenging enough in the original. With the changes made in this version it is a nightmare and possibly even impossible.
A lot of the nostalgia is gone for me also due to so many changes in the sound effects and other things. I would recommend getting an older version. The only thing this version has to offer is the soundtrack.Show lessNot on par with other versions
I LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy I was to learn about these new versions. In good faith I bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle.
I was immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When I went online to see if an update was pending, I was dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode!
As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome.
I’m unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set.Show less
