Shortboxed is long on value

I’ve used dozens of comic book related apps since the beginning of time (ok the App Store launch) and this is consistently one of the best platforms for buying and selling raw and graded comics. The search tools are amazing and the UI is continually improved based on actual user feedback. The entire flow as both a buyer and seller for the past 3 years has been extremely smooth. Listing items for sale takes 1/10 the time of eBay and payments for sold items are delivered quickly. Customer support actually exists and is both accessible and attentive. (I could only wish the same for others…)

I can highly recommend Shortboxed. Great auctions, great community!

Network failed

I took a picture both of them. It says network failed won’t put them on

DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR BUY

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, buy from this app. Very misleading during the bidding process. You may bid for $1, but you are paying shipping and handling each book if from a different seller. Each book is $8 in shipping and tax. 4 books at a $1 would be $13 from one seller. Imagine 4 different sellers. That’s $52 plus tax, a 3% processing fee if using a card, so they make you add a bank account as well. The app frequently crashes and I recently won an auction on a CGC 9.8 comic for $17, shipping is $15 for slabs so about the normal price for one. I was emailed that the buyer didn’t like the price it sold for and cancelled. DON’T LIST YOUR ITEMS IF YOU AREN’T HAPPY WITH HOW MUCH THEY SELL FOR!! It’s like listing a car for sale, you shake my hand after I hand you the money and change your mind 4 days later. That money is already out of my account, now it’s 3-5 business days later for a refund. It’s the buyer and the apps fault. Don’t list the item in $20 minimum auction and the system lets me win it at $17 plus $15 shipping and tax. Don’t waste your time and money on the app. Multiple invoices from multiple people who can cancel at the drop of a dime!

Response from developer

Hi. Apologies for your experience. We do currently display costs per seller along with additional shipping and fees. We'll try to do a better job making this more obvious in future updates. We strive to always make it right for our users. If you have further issues, please feel free to contact our support team. Thanks!

OK. Does crash at times. Navigation could be better

The application crashes on me from time to time, which is annoying. I am using a Apple iPhone 13.

I think the functionality of the program can improve. Be nice to know what auctions I have bid on in a separate page, instead of scrolling down and seeing what I’m winning and what I’m losing.

International Shipping is horrendous

Their FAQ is not updated

International is still in beta

Price for Canada and UK are :

1-2 for 50$ + 15$ each temporary transfer, so between 65$ and 80$usd of shipping for 2 issues!!!

Support don’t answer email.

I’m checking out and erase the app once I get my over price stuff.

Stay on eBay.

Amazing, one stop shopping!

Easy to use, great selection of slabbed and raw books. App has a price guide, very useful for comparing sales of graded books. Safer than EBay. Customer service is excellent and extremely responsive. A must have for comic book enthusiasts.

Shortboxed : A Great Entry to the Comic Marketplace

Comic buyers and sellers find themselves with more options daily as the current market evolves and integrates with tech, Shortboxed is a great example of this.
From the Deal of the Day cover splash to individualized census, sales and pricing icons for most items, Shortboxed is clean and not overly complicated.
A recent version update brought the ungraded raw market into the mix which is a welcome addition. In my opinion developers should create a dedicated viewing field for graded and raw markets.
Combined, the slightly cluttered view and higher rate of search inaccuracies definitely takes away from the streamlined effect which I considered the best attribute of the Shortboxed experience. It’s early so I am sure they will work things out and I’ll go with 4/5 Stars.

Great selling platform!

Been using ShortBoxed for selling and buying. The ease of use and always innovating the platform by the creators who are collectors themselves. If you follow them on social media they have clear intention in building a platform to sell and purchase safely. I like the good deal feature on a listed book. It’s either a green dot next to the listing to showcase the books listing price is below current sold prices. And they just released an update where you can buy and sell raw books now!! That’s great news. I do love slabbed books but I’m a little old school in owning raw books (not certified rating by a third party and encased in a sealed plastic). So I’m definitely be looking forward to this update!! And their comic convention was awesome!! It was held in Silicon Valley, California and had just comic books. For us oldies that appreciate more comics to choose from than nowadays at conventions when comics have to compete with cosplayers, cards, toys. I just love an old school comic convention!

Makes buying graded comics easy

I’m fairly new to buying graded comics. I found it initially overwhelming to know what to focus on when reading auction listings. Sellers have their own various ways of describing comics. The pictures are inconsistent. There’s so much noise to filter out.

On the Shortboxed app it’s easy. The details included on the listing are *consistent* and concise. Pictures are always clear and easy to review. I can set up saved searches and get notified when new listing appear. Checkout is easy and quick.
