  • Phone or other hardware issue but frustrating to use

I was really excited to get into this app and as all things when it works it works good. I have the travel version of the paper academy and when I traveled brought it with me.
Using the tripod is a little frustrating every time. Went to make a minor adjustment the screen either recognizes a hit or the phone moves locking out the buttons. Light settings are extremely sensitive and makes it somewhat annoying to deal with. If o could get the app to work like I have only once or twice I would love it . I hate to say it but the versatility idea is right but the implementation of both hardware and software needs something not sure what that is

  • Incredible app for dry fire training

Haven’t open the app in a while, so I’m not sure when they updated it. Very impressed with the new training videos and rank system. I love the fact that you can even earn credits for Mantis products. I don’t have any yet but with the new updates to the app I will add a Mantis X to my training gear soon. Thanks Mantis for improving an already great dry fire training app. 👍🏼

  • Academy is good but the app could be polished.

The laser academy I. General is awesome I’ve had it for 28 days now and see great improvement when going to the range. The app unfortunately could use some improvements. There seems to be a bug with tracking days/ streaks. I have done 28 days straight but it said I missed yesterday. Unfortunately I had not noticed that it did not fully count yesterday. In history you can see that train g was done but I believe the issue is because I finished one of the pistol mastering courses. A previous time I completed one I had also noticed that it was not saying i was completed for my day and did more practice until I met my daily 100. Would be nice to have the ability in the app to correct that I trained yesterday and it not show as missed and ruin my streak. Would also like to see more course and more targets. Wish more development was being put in to the academy app.

  • Great system once you get it to read the cards

I’d give it 5 stars if it would read consistently.
I’ve used this system all over to keep sharp. From cabins in the mountains, to kitchens, and basements. Regardless where I use it I spend 10+ minutes trying to get the phone to read the cards properly. And when at times I only have 15 minutes it cuts into my reps. Doesn’t matter the lighting, background etc.

Now once your done adjusting your phone and the cards the system works great. It has improved my first shot accuracy 10 fold. The drills are solid and challenging. Well worth every penny even with the lighting frustrations.

  • Good but not perfect

All aspects of the app seem to work great with the exception of the tutorial video audio. Only reason for not giving 5 stars. It seemed to only play the tutorial video with Bluetooth headphones connected. Maybe I am an idiot and my iPhone was accidentally connected to another device. I don’t know, but I want to train and listen to the tutorial audio without headphones or earbuds to train as I fight.

  • 10/10 at home training

This system is flippin amazing! Other than the laser being delicate. I am very satisfied with the package you receive when buying the starter kit. My goodness, it’s improved my aiming 10 fold in only days. Helps a lot with paying attention to your trigger pull and watching how you might be dragging your shots.

Would absolutely recommend this product to any new and/or experienced shooters and the app is also the cherry on top. It’s not perfect but if you’re patient with it, the reward is massive.

My main ask is to make the laser more durable, if I didn’t have the tools to tighten the parts I could see that being frustrating for some users. But that’s small compared to what it will give you!

    10/10 would recommend.

  • Great app … with a minor twist.

New user here - love the app, makes dry fire training so much fun! Once I got the hang of it and figured how to use it - it’s been a blast!
However, I struggled with it for the first couple of days - couldn’t figure out how to get the sound working. Videos, drills - everything was on mute - took me a while to realize that the app doesn’t produce a sound if the iPhone it’s running on is in silent mode.
This is very strange, up until now the silent mode only blocked the ringtone - ALL other apps run just fine with sound on, loud and clear. Not this one - keep it in mind and turn the silent mode off if you’re wondering how to get it to “talk” to you. Otherwise, great stuff with lots of good features.
(Developers - turn the sound on for good, there is really no good reason to mute the app in silent mode.)

  • Super fun

This thing is super fun to play with. Shots are pretty accurate and the app isn’t buggy for me. A few things we need (please) why is there a dartboard target, but no modes for cricket? We need dart games! A few more game modes for the dot torture and hunt would be nice. More sound effects would be awesome, like steel target sounds for hits for instance. Overall great product and support.

  • Great Practice Device

It’s nice to be able to practice whenever you want and loads of fun. Just going through the repetitions seems to be helping work on my grip, stance and trigger control. Obviously nothing can replace putting live fire down range but this lets you practice over and over and over so you’re more prepared when you do hit the range.

  • Could be a lot better

App is kind of “gamey” not many updates to improve realism.

The alignment tool for height over bore is very clunky and difficult to use. Give users ability to manual enter.

Target acquisition is sketchy, lighting really impacts it, and more than a couple targets greater than about a yard part is almost impossible.

If it would pick up multiple targets in a room spread throughout the room it would allow for simulated room clearing using multi shot laser systems such as your Blackbeard.

More setting for use with multi shot laser systems like dry fire mag and your very own Blackbeard needed. For instance your dot torture scenarios isn’t even realistic or comparable with the actual
    Dot torture exercise.

I would buy your balckbeard system if I could use it to its fullest capability. But why if everything is mostly single shot?

I am happy with the training and improvements I have gained from you app. I have just outgrown it and need a lot more. I am vested in it and largely a brand loyal person to the degree I would even be willing to pay a small fee for your app if you upgraded it and added functionality. Maybe a free version and a paid version?
