Presets don't save!!
The app utility is very spotty when connected to the YDS120. Presets don't save and the user bank is not functional. The app manual is sparse and overall needs a major updateJj21rev

Bought the appropriate cables to make it connect to an iPhone…. Does not work. Needs Bluetooth. Maybe the app is good, wouldn’t know.Rye ry7
MIDI Output Breath Control is broken in 1.10
If you use any MIDI app that shows the numeric values of the parameters being received (on an iPad) you will see that when Follow Breath is used for Velocity, the values are all over the place even for a constantly pulsating tone. Produce the same note with the same intensity (tah tah tah tah…) and see what Velocity you get - it jumps from 32 to 60 and 120 and back down again for no variation of breath speed or strength. What is even worse: You can't blow gently and slowly increase the breath force and hear the note increase in volume. No, you lose all that expressiveness in MIDI mode compared to the built-in voices played in the instrument.Show lessSglebs
Completely useless
The check box for the Privacy Agreement /EULA doesn’t fit on my iPhone 7 screen - so I can’t tick the ‘I agree’ checkbox and so can’t launch the App.
So a completely useless App and a fundamental programming FAIL.

Latest version is a great update
New sax user banks in C, essentially adds a C-Mel set, and some WITHOUT vibrato that can be changed to any key or sound of course. New function to show which keys are being pressed excellent for teaching. Thanks Yamaha for a useful and requested update.Greg McC.
Great instrument let down by app
The YDS 150 is a really capable instrument from a technical point of view. I play a Selmer Balanced Action alto and also have an AKAI EWI 4000s so this was a new venture. The app seems like an afterthought and really limits the experience. A really simple fix would be simple presets for key changes so I can play alto in b flat without having to go up and down though semitones. The 1 star for the app lets down a 5 star instrument and Yamaha really needs to improve this.Show lessPipoiliggf

FFS! How difficult can this fix be. £700 spent on a yds 150 and absolutely impossible to fully download the controller on any device! Get it sorted!aerophone
Not designed for smaller screens.
This application is great but does not currently function on the latest iPod touch or iPhone 4s as the Bluetooth connection can not be established because the “How to connect” text obscures the list of “Bluetooth Midi Devices” and will not allow you select a device.leicapair
Needs a lot of missing features
Far too Spartan. Needs smaller pitch bend. Better Bluetooth. Easier fx control. Why drop the ball like this when they just need to carry it a little farther? Maybe they will update it in the future.musicskypiano
