  • Great…! But may need two more things.

First of all, lovely game. I can’t find a lot of issue with it besides what I feel needs to be added. For one, I’d love it if notifications were brought into the light of the app, it’s mainly so that I know when to check back in and not totally forget it exists. Second, I would like it if guided practice audios played outside of the app itself. Mainly so that I can relax while do things such as remove other apps, disable notifs for focusing, etc. Overall, it definitely needs improvement, but shouldn’t be too hard to focus on!

  • i’m a bit disappointed but...

perhaps i just haven’t figured the game out yet but i don’t think i can do anything without making a purchase? i got into the game, went through the tutorial and found amaru in front of me, anxious so i was like okay i’ll just try to find a way to help it. i pressed anything i could find but it led me to the same screen saying i should pay. (i did notice that it was the “lite” version or something i cant remember the specific term used 😅) is it a one off payment or a subscription? i’ve been following the journey of this app on instagram for a while so i know it has lots of potential and i can see it has lots of ways it can help people. i’m honestly fine to pay but i know many people may not be in a position to. hopefully there can be more options for the free version? i will say the art is very pretty and the way the game is laid out is quite nice, the “tutorial cut screen” was also really pleasant. thanks heaps 💝 (i wish you guys all the best!)

EDIT: thank you so much for the help! it’s working well so far, i’ll let you guys know if i run into any issues or need help. great work on the app 😊💗

HI Saturn, We're releasing a tutorial soon, but in the meantime, you can calm Amaru down by completing a self-care goal. Doing the Deep Relaxation Breath or Gratitude Journal will achieve this. You can then enjoy feeding/petting him and the free minigames we've provided as you determine whether to purchase the app. Hope you enjoy!
  • My fave app!

Amaru is absolutely precious. Though I love mindfulness, I lack the motivation for daily practice. An adorable magical kitty however, is enough to get to me to do it. The meditations themselves are some of the best I’ve ever tried, which is a lot. I also love the beautiful background the game has, and all the cute things Amaru does from bent a loaf to rolling on his belly!

If you have the free version and are debating getting the golden key, I highly recommend it. I backed the Kickstarter so I paid a long time ago, but it still took a lil but after the game was released for every backer to get their key. While the free version has all the basic features and is good, the golden key really takes it to the next level.

Good luck on your mental health journey!!!

  • The Wrong Way To Handle Making Money

There’s nothing wrong with needing money as a game. I get it. You need money. But the way you go about it is wrong, more so when you target the mentally unwell as your audience.

I follow you guys on Instagram, you’ve had plenty of kickstarters, fundraisers, etc. Any money you needed to have, you have! And YET to unlock the majority of the basic features you need to spend like $12– a fact I find considerably steep, especially for a mobile game

If you want money, go the cosmetic route like so many other games and I’ll gladly shell out money for a different fur color, accessories, clothes or on a mini event

But your audience feeds into you because— like me— they think if they buy the game maybe this will make them happy

    But it doesn’t

Because the app in itself is far from perfect, you don’t get credit for completing any exercises if you stop halfway through, for example if I open the app and Amaru is anxious I can’t do ANYTHING until I’ve done an exercise, even though my first instinct is to comfort Amaru and reach out and pet them among other things

My brother said it’s the same for PC :/

  • amaru is so cute

so sweet :') this is the only self care app that's actually worked for me because amaru is so cute. the animation style brings me so much joy. hopefully the gratitude journal and self care stuff will work to make me a little less depressed lol but genuinely I think it's helping a bit <3
  • Bored: Paid/free content balance plz

I heard about the game from when it was in beta (though I was not a tester) and was looking forward to the release. To be honest, there’s not enough free content to keep me interested in keeping the app long enough to consider making an in app purchase. So many things are locked behind the pay wall and even though the game provides an in game currency there’s no way for a free to play player to actually unlock much of anything with that currency. I don’t mind that the game has paid content but the feel and style of the game feels generally kid-friendly and thus like more should be earnable by free players too. Unfortunately, since I’m already bored by the 1 journal option, limited collectible items (food only) and inability to unlock new items/activities w/o an iap I’m not inspired enough by what I can do to want to unlock the things that I cant.

Hi Kaz, Thanks for the feedback. We're only on version 1.1 and will be continuing to build and refine content for months to come. We hope you stick around.
  • Amazing app! Would definitely recommend!

Great app! So much fun interacting with Amaru and this game helps a lot!! Would recommend to all!
  • My new friend!

I love Amaru already. I tired other self care apps but lost interest quickly. The idea of a little friend to take care of motivates me to take care of myself too! Would be great if they could develop it for the Apple Watch too!
  • Finally here - Amazing & Worth it!! TRY IT OUt

I have been supporting this app since the Kickstarter days and have been playing along with the beta version. Seeing it develop has been amaZing and the end product is phenomenal.
As an RN and someone who suffers from anxiety and depression I am so excited to see realized an amazing concept and idea as an approach to everyday mental health and well being.
I love Amaru so much so that even though I purchased a copy pre-sale to help fund the campaign I paid in-app and bought the FULL version because 1 - it’s with it and 2 - these developers are amazing and deserve all the support they can get!
Thanks for such a great app and journey along the way - can’t wait to see what left to come!

  • More content for free players

There needs to be more for free to play players in guided practice. Just a couple recordings each category so we can latch onto something rather than intros that aren’t teaching us anything. The game is new and I’ve only been playing a few days. I don’t want to be impulsive to purchase the full version for 10-13$ if I’m not interested in its contents longterm. I experienced anxiety recently and thought of Amaru and if there is a lesson available to tell me how I can calm my breathing and anxiety in these instances. I’m not usually someone to turn to positive solutions in these moments. To even think of Amaru in my moment of weakness tells me Amaru could be a good step in the right direction. But without a look of what these lessons are like I won’t be able to make a decision if they could be technics I can apply to my life and could benefit from purchasing more. Also with in game currency free players can only buy food. Amaru doesn’t even eat a lot, I feed him 2 or 3 times a day. My in game currency is just racking up and practically useless. Other than that it’s a great start, Amaru is adorable and likeable.

Hi Life on Fire, the Deep Relaxation Breath under Lightening Echo Stones is free and a good reflection of what to expect from the other exercises. You'll be able to spend your currency for maps and compasses in the paid version. Hope you stick with us as we continue building the game and that it helps with your anxiety!
