  • Great idea but lacking updates

Came across this app by accident and it looked different to other photo organiser app. I specifically liked the idea of being able to automatically create “smart” albums utilising AI by searching objects, colours and text. Sadly, what sounded to good to be true turned out to be exactly that.

It is very slow to run especially when trying to intelligently scan and index my photos / videos and even after a few days of periodically letting it run, it still hadn’t produced anything “smart”. It was also draining my battery and resources so I had to uninstall.

I checked the app after uninstalling and can see that there hasn’t been any update in over a year so perhaps it would work better if it was updated to the latest iOS software but who knows as it seems the app developer has given up on this project which is a shame as it stood out as unique from the rest.

I rate it a generous 3/5 for the innovative idea and because it runs offline but it loses 2 stars due to the fact that it’s unusable especially if you have a large amount of data to process, the app interface isn’t very user-friendly and the layout needs improving and because it is very resource intensive when scanning which causes your phone to become painfully slow. It also crashes frequently.

If you only have a small amount of photos/videos on your phone then give it a try; it might work better with less data to scan but for me it’s too clunky.

  • Am I missing something?

I give what I think are alleyoops and it totally can not
Doesn’t see “animals” as an object? I suppose they aren’t, right but still I have tried other searches that I know I have pictures of and it falls short more often than not
  • Love it

Thank you for making it free, I love the location tag and being able to add more than one location helped me keep organize with work photos, are you working on adding videos?
  • Great organised photo app

I’ve always hated how the photos app organised photos, if you’re like me then this is the solution!
  • Seems like a powerful and well-made app!

Seems like a powerful and well-made app! I am still exploring the features that are offered in this app, and have just started scanning some of my many thousands of images. But this app seems to offer some features that Apple is leaving out for some reason. Definitely download and check out.

    To the developer:
Could you add an option for the file type Tif? I wanted to make a smart album for any images that are tiffs but it currently doesn’t have that one. Thanks!

  • Some improvements needed

Experience some laggy behaviour on a 14 pro after searching.
Would also be great if there was some integration with cloud photo providers e.g. google photos.
  • Brilliant!

Quinn Nelson showcased this app and it is spectacular! It helps me find photos (among 34,000) that I thought I’d never see again. Unreal.
  • Great App, Great Developer

Thanks for this app much appreciated. Hope it gets the recognition it deserves 🤩💫
  • I updated and features were removed

I used this app regularly to scan for dairy ingredients when buying groceries, today I decided to update the app and the camera was removed as was the lists of allergens! I'm sure the app has a lot of functionality for other users now but it's not at all what I used it for. This is why I never update things.

    Developer Response

Hi! The camera and lists are actually still available, but packaged in a separate app — search up "OpenFind" on the App Store to re-download it. OpenFind is now also open-source, so you can browse the source code or suggest features on GitHub (https://github.com/aheze/OpenFind). Thanks for the review, and please let me know if I can help with anything else!
  • Can’t edit

I love everything about this app except that I can’t launch editing functions with it. It would have replaced photos if I could. Instead it’s relegated to a neat search app I might use occasionally.
