Interesting but not accurate

It would be an interesting & helpful app if it was accurate but it's not!

On a day that I'm too tired it tells me I'm on top form, and another day when I'm ready for a good workout it discourages me to take it easy!

Hi Many thanks for trying Training Today. I’d like to understand why the app isn’t working for you. If you would like to give it another try please email me at support@trainingtodayapp.com and we can investigate. Kind regards Ian Blackburn

Love the app and can’t wait for more features!

Hello, I just had to comment because this app is exactly what I have been looking for and does a great job at it too. In essence, this app tracks your HRV over a period of time, including during the evening which is the best time to measure when viewing how “recovered” you are and ready to take on more strain. I compare this to the Whoop strap recovery system, and it’s pretty spot on regarding how recovered my body is compared to Whoop. I know Whoop takes HRV, RHR, and sleep into account for their recovery score, and I think this only takes into account HRV. I know the others might be duplicative and I’m not sure if this takes into account RHR. Keep it up though, look forward to more features as you roll them out!

Apple Body Battery

This app is similar to the Garmin Body Battery. Love this app as it’s simple and to the point. I would suggest the name of the app should be changed to Apple Body Battery. Many people including I was jealous of Garmin’s body battery. But with this app not anymore. Thank you to the developer of this app.

Finally a readiness app for Apple

I am glad they made this as I found it frustrating that the Apple Watch gathers all this data but then doesn’t actually have any sort of concise readiness score functionality.

There are obviously a few things to be great to have expanded in this app.

One thing that I think it needs is a greater ability to look at past data and work through data. It’s a bit frustrating that the app itself is incredibly basic. I do like the display, but I would maybe like to understand a little bit more about what the readiness score actually means.

It would also be really great if one could use the app to work out readiness trends. So for example it would be amazing if you could work out what the best time of day is generally for you to train is it morning is it lunch is it evening is it afternoon.

I hope these guys take this app forward because I think it’s super functionality and I really hope that they manage to develop it with more depth.

Thanks guys!

Placebo?

I had my doubts at first but the more I listen to the app the better I feel during training. Could it just be a placebo effect? Either way it’s working for me!

Useful and Easy

What a nice little application. I’ve tried various HRV apps to track cycling and CrossFit recovery (or damage depending on how you look at it) and all required some intervention on my end. Most were simple but I just couldn’t stay compliant.

Training Today is easy, just wear your watch and keep an eye on the complication.

The app recently showed that I was race ready and that day I set multiple PR’s and top ten finishes on segments in Strava. Awesome for knowing how hard to push and when to rest.

Nice little update that just included workout data in to the RTT score. Looking forward to future updates.

Pretty useless

I’m not sure where this app gets its calculations from. I downloaded it more out of curiosity because I’m an advanced athlete and I know exactly how I’m feeling and when I need to take it easy and when I can push it. I always do think that HRV is a fairly decent approximation of how ready you are to train. So I thought hey let’s see if this actually works.

Bad news: it doesn’t. You would think it would be pretty easy app to design. Just look at your average HRV and see if you are below or above. Then give yourself a score. You can see average HRV for any period in the Apple health app. You can also see your latest HRV value. So just do the math and voila. But this app really doesn’t seem to capable of making that calculation, instead relying on smoothing or something. If you play with the two settings you can get the app to say completely different things, which is frankly laughable.

I get this is basically a beta, so I’ll give them a chance to improve but really how difficult is it to do that very simple calculation?

Response from developer

Hi Many thanks for trying Training Today. As you have surmised we are not simply averaging HRV since that proved too variable in a lot of our test athletes so we have developed our own algorithm that works well for many but not everyone. I’d like to understand why the app is reporting bad data for you. If you would like to give it another go please email me at support@trainingtodayapp.com and we can investigate Kind regards Ian Blackburn

Brilliant app - Looks great and data v useful

I’m really enjoying using Training Today, for an app that has just been released, it looks great and fits in with the watch ecosystem v well. Finding the data very useful to glance at before a session and it is becoming more meaningful as I use the app more and more. Also love the complications - looking forward to future releases.

Great app 👍

For my it’s a great app , simply beautiful design, easy to read and for my daily workout perfect 👍 so far the “how I feel “ suggesting was right and at the point . One wish to the developer please make a complication for the Siri Watchface then I will rate the app with 6 stars ✨😃 great job keep going 👍

Good app

I have been looking out for a app like this for a while now and I am not disappointed.

The garmin smart watches have a similar feature

It’s good to see if you can push yourself for that 10k run or to have a rest day
