So glad it's a good free app!
This is really good, to test and play mid files with different soundfonts works amazingly! Could you possibly add for the next update a way to change the instruments of each channel? With or Without soundfont. It would be a huge improvement!

Simple and great! With Midi output option.
Thank you for making this free with the midi output option, please don’t change that feature. It’s so useful for sending the signal out to a Bluetooth midi receiver. I love that it’s very simple to use.Arno-MagicSound

Does this support the ability to play through a collection of multiple songs? I see the player has a repeat function but I cannot see how to queue up a number of different songs to play through.
Otherwise, hooking up a USB-C adapter cable to connect my iPad Pro to my MIDI device was super simple. Just plug it in and it works. You do have to pay to upgrade the app but that is fair. Once done, MIDI USB is a new option under sound fonts.
The name is correct. It is super simple. Nothing too complex nor difficult. A simple player that works well - even when put in the background. Just hoping to find how to play multiple songs in a list. Help?!Show lessPoptart360

This app is great to play Medi files I was able to play midi Files with one click of a button. This does get access to your files though, but not in the way that’s bad but it lets you choose the midi file. This is a great app but if you want, you can also get a subscription for this app at the time right now it’s $4.99 but prices will probably go up because of inflation. To clarify a couple things: 1) The app doesn't get access to a MIDI file or SoundFont until you open it from the system-provided document picker. 2) The full version is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. One niggle. When I put it in the background to follow a score in forScore, it stopped playing. Would love for it to work in the background.cj42355

Hi, thanks for leaving a review! Does forScore have an audio feature? If so, it might be taking over the audio (even if it isn't actively playing anything) when you switch to it. Could you try the same but with the Music app in the background instead of NS MIDI Player and see if it stops playing? Also, what iOS version are you using?Only Default Soundfont works

The sound is good thanks to a nice selection of sound fonts. It plays midi files well. I haven’t discovered how to upgrade to the pro version but will when asked.MTLorenz

Thank you! I'm glad that you've found NS MIDI Player to be useful. You can upgrade to the full version by tapping the dollar sign button in the top left of the Settings screen. (You'll also be prompted to upgrade if you attempt to use a feature only offered in the full version, e.g. connecting to a MIDI output.)absolutely beautiful app
yeah yeah I know the title gives off paid reviews vibes but this is genuinely the best and cleanest midi player app I’ve found for ios. it supports custom soundfonts, changing playback speed, and the effects work perfectly with most midis. my only gripe is that with some midis from SRB2’s soundtrack the echo instruments play at full volume instead of how they should, though these midis’ events are strangely laid out. aside from that this program plays basically any midi flawlesslyShow lessZenithNeko

I have problems using newer soundfonts which this app doesn't support very well. The instruments do not sound right. One of these sound fonts is generaluser GS, which has newer programming that this app can't seam to work with. Some other soundfonts don't sound correctly either. The midi notes play correctly but it either uses the wrong instrument or some tracks in the midi file will not play at all using newer soundfonts. Yes, GeneralUser GS appears to have issues with playback. This may be due to limitations in Apple's software synthesizer APIs, which is what the internal synthesizer in the app is based on. Would you be able to provide some more examples of SoundFonts that you're having trouble with? They might all have something in common. The app is very good I’ve been loving it and using other soundfonts and I love playing around with it. The only problem is after a few minutes, the app will freeze and stop so you will have to restart the app. Please fix that thanksD_G599

Would you be able to edit your review with the iOS version and model of device you're using?
