Great app, but no sync with Apple Watch

I like the app except for one big huge problem which makes it impossible to use - the app does NOT sync with my Apple Watch. It keeps trying to force me to enable iCloud for sync, which I never use, and I will never enable iCloud for privacy reasons, and NO other app on AppStore requires iCloud for Apple Watch syncing - all other apps use Bluetooth to sync data between the phone and the Watch. Maybe the developer should learn to use Bluetooth for syncing data between the iPhone and the Apple Watch instead of forcing users to enable iCloud which is not necessary and not desirable for privacy reasons. I have cancelled my subscription but I will buy the paid subscription back if the developer implements easy normal Bluetooth sync between the phone and the watch. Thank you.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback! We use iCloud to sync data across all user devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. This technology allows us to provide a great user experience while maintaining privacy. You are correct that it is required to enable iCloud to sync data with the Apple Watch, but all your data is private and securely encrypted on Apple's servers. No one but you can access it. We don't even require you to create a dedicated account – all you need is your standard Apple ID. We are sorry that this requirement leads to your dissatisfaction with our app. However, we want to assure you that we take privacy very seriously. If you have any further feedback, questions, or concerns about privacy, please contact us at feedback@awesome-habits.com.

Reminders don't work

The app itself is easily a 5 star app. However, the reminders don't work which is a dealbreaker for me.

The widget is useless. I only have weekly and monthly things and yet the widget insists on using daily and thus making me unable to see anything unless I open the app.

Helpful. Easy UI

I’ve tried more than a few habit-type apps and this one resonates with me. It’s easy to add recurring daily or weekly habits (or things) you are looking to achieve, and also cut out of your life (like eating less sweets).

The UI is really nice and intuitive and I find myself using the widget all the time when drinking more water (something I want to do). The history and habit percentage section is also useful to keep tabs on how well you’re doing.

I signed up to the yearly plan which works out at around £1 per month, which includes backup and restore.

Keep up the good work devs!

Great habit tracking app

I’m loving Awesome Habits (have it on my Mac, phone and watch). Pretty much as soon as I started using it I could see how useful it could be, started the free Premium trial and am now a Premium subscriber. I especially love the watch app, it has easily the best UI of all the habit tracking apps I’ve tried using from my watch. The fact that it also has a Mac app and widgets for both Mac and phone is a bonus.

The one feature that I would like to see is the ability to set a unit other than 1 for count (e.g. if I have a goal to write 500 words in a day, I’d like to be able to tap once for each 100 words that I write). Even without this feature it’s pretty much a 5 star app for me.

Thank you for a very nice review! We are happy that you are enjoying our app! Also thanks a lot for your feature suggestion. Just to clarify for readers of this review, our app allows users to set unlimited goals and in a habit detail, it's possible to quickly add progress using buttons (+10, +100...) or set any progress using the "Change value" option. But tapping a habit circle always adds +1 to the progress. The possibility to define custom progress to add by tapping a circle is on our roadmap and it will very likely come with one of the future updates.

Awesome habit tracker

Highly recommended! Simple design but has really powerful features if you wish to use them. Being able to track exceeding habits was one of the biggest features that drew me to using this app

A fairly viable Streaks alternative

Some things it shares with Streaks:

- Just recently, it added the ability to attach a URL to a habit.

Here’s what it has over Streaks right now:

- Unlimited habits. You aren’t limited to 24.

- Habit categorization: via lists, which operate like tags, meaning you can add multiple lists to one habit

- The ability to add units past a goal

- With Streaks, once you get the habit done, that’s it. You can’t, say, add one more hour to a Play Piano habit because you already hit your goal.

- Awesome let’s you add more hours even when you hit your goal, making it more close to Strides in tracking.

- Just recently, it added the ability to attach a description to a habit.

Here’s where it lacks:

- It’s library of Apple Health synced habits is still limited when compared to Streaks. I don’t believe I can sync things like tooth brushing.

- You can only run one timer at once and it must be done while the app is still open. If you exit the screen, the timer will stop.

- Lack of badges. You’ll have to enter the app each time to know how many habits you have yet to complete.

- The only way to filter habits is via lists. You can’t text search them or filter them by status yet.

Thank you for your positive feedback and great suggestions! We're excited to confirm that most of the features you're missing are already on our roadmap and will most likely come in future updates: - Extended Apple Health support - Multiple background timers - Badge with number of habits to complete - Filtering by status + we'll also consider your idea of a full-text search If you have any further feedback or ideas, please let us know anytime at feedback@awesome-habits.com

Favorite habit tracker app.

I love this app.
I love how it looks and it’s super easy to use . It’s also got a ton of customization options .
Some of my favorite features are the built in timer , and the fact that you can use it to build good habits or break bad ones . Also the fact that you can track by time spent on bad habits instead of being all or nothing where you fail if you do the thing at all .

I also like the fact that you can adjust time manually later if you forget to turn the timer on or off . It was also nice to be able to go back and add the streak I had on meditation before I had purchased the app .

The only thing I’d do different is give more sound options for when you are checking off a habit . Right now I have the sound turned off because I don’t like the default chime .

But that’s a minor thing with all the other things I love about the app. I got the lifetime subscription.

Love it!

Super easy to use and keeps me in my routine, also has reminders for certain times & a one time purchase option or subscription! Would highly recommend

Simple and effective

By far the best of these types of habit trackers. I use it for tracking work and personal goals I wish to achieve each week, but for which I don’t necessarily want to assign a to-do. The interface is sleek and simple and the widgets on iOS and Mac are a key usability feature for me.
