Everything works except VPN

I love everything about this app and it works flawlessly however just one pain in the backside is the VPN never works. You can never be able to save the vpn settings as the save icon is greyed out. I wish this could be fixed as soon as possible because I hate having to manually keep turning on the vpn on all the devices

Easy to use

This app is easy to navigate. It guides me through the router setup in less than 10 minutes. The App allows me to set up multiple networks. Great.

Easy set up

I found they app very easy to use. Set up both units in about 15 minutes. Much easier to use than I expected.

Everything needed by 99% of router owners

The TaoTronics “TT Router” app is well laid out, intuitive to use, and gives you control over all of the settings that 99% of router owners would ever need to specify. Unless you’re a network engineer, you should never need anything more than the TT Router app to control and monitor your home WiFi network. I was able to set up my home WiFi network with no issues and no complexities.

Importantly, the app makes it easy to create a dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID for use by IOT devices that don’t support the 5 GHz band.

Works as needed

App works well after setup. I do wish there was better troubleshooting guidance during the setup process but I figured out my error and everything has worked smoothly since.

Seamless Setup. No Issues Here

I was quite skeptical when I saw the low ratings and was worried that I made a mistake ordering the product. Despite reading solid reviews about the mesh network online, it was disappointing to know the product could’ve been crippled by the app. However, I was able to set up the network with no issues by following the prompts and instructions via the app. I set the network up using the iphone 12 pro (if anyone was curious). I was able to add the satellite with no issues. The only issue I encounter was that my iphone 12 could not connect to the 5ghz network. All my other devices and my family member’s iphones were able to be automatically connected to the 5ghz network, whereas, my phone was stuck on 2.4ghz. I solved this by updating the router’s firmware and my phone’s iOS.

Functional wifi but terrible parental controls

TaoTronics mesh wifi is great, stable and strong signal. However, parental controls are terrible because so basic and limited. My kids can circumvent the rules because they cannot be configured to work on all bands of wifi (my son just switches network and he’s on). Blacklist confit can only work on keywords for URL (so unless you know million porn site names my 10 year old can get on them). It cannot block apps. It cannot allow more than one start and stop duration (my kids need multiple - sleep time, homework time, school time, and actual play). Pick one only! Tech support is very responsive but does not good if app cannot do what it needs to.

The app is okay

Setup is a little buggy. At step 8 where it is supposed to automatically detect year ISP modem connection type nothing will happen when you press next. I found you can get around this by manually selecting the ISP connection type. For me though the worst about this app in particular is that there’s no documentation on the advanced features which really aren’t even that advanced. They should document what the advanced features do.

“Network exception”

I can’t access any settings and can’t do anything beyond the initial setup of the router connected to my modem. “Network exception” error appears when trying to access anything. Tech support said this is a known issue, but couldn’t resolve the problem. Useless app makes the device useless as well since that’s the only option for setting things up.
