  • Longing for the good ol’ days…

Longtime MOTU Ultalite Mk3 user back in the good ol’ days…. a stable fully functional CueMix & available hardware control knobs for all functions. Now using iPad Pro, I upgraded (so I thought) to Ultralite Mk5 & CueMix 5. This version of hardware is extremely dependent on CueMix for most functions. With such a strong dependency on software, it’s stability is critical. Most of the time CueMix will literally not recognize the hardware. When it does load, the functionality is bare bones. Very disappointed.

  • Was great when first updated, now it won’t stay connected

I have the latest version of the app and the Ultralite MK5 updated to the latest firmware. I LOVED the app when I first updated it but now it’s only staying connected for a while. Then, it won’t connect wirelessly. Not sure why it worked and then stopped, perhaps a WIFI issue. I’ll continue trying on different WiFi systems.

  • How do they keep messing this app up?

Every single time there is an update to the app and the ULMK5, it cause serious connection issues. It’s absolutely maddening. It takes repeated attempts of opening and closing the app, disconnecting and reconnecting the interface, or restarting the iPad, just to get it to recognize the hardware. For the love of all that is holy, either stop updating the app, or make sure it works before you set it free!

  • Updates always screw up connections

Every time there’s an update, it’s a pain in the butt to get reconnected.

  • Almost there.

Running on a 2022 11” iPad Pro, CueMix 5 is largely functional, and I’m grateful that it exists as I’m using the Ultralite for mobile recording with just the iPad and Logic Pro. There are, however, two things that are a fairly annoying.

    1. I almost always need to close and re-open the app multiple times each time I run CueMix, otherwise I just get the ‘Waiting for device to connect. Check power and cables…’ message forever.
    2. I really wish that the iOS version had the ability to save and load configuration files. As it is now, I need to connect the device to my Mac before and after a session to do this.

  • This product work when I got it.

Since update CueMix 5 it has been asking me to update firmware on my ultralitemk5 device and can I? Well I looked at at least one YouTube video showing how and well it was for CueMix 1.1.5 which had a menu allowing you to update the firmware. That would be nice because on my CueMix 5 all I get is a screen shows CueMix 5 trade mark, a message saying i need to update firmware and a IP-address link that shows me the IP-address the CueMix 5 is using to connect to my device, and that it no menu that give me an option to update firmware like in the youtube video for CueMix 5 1.1.5 am I going to speed a lot of money buying PC or MAC just to update the firmware when i should be able to use my iPad Pro. It would just save money to buy a different audio inputs device that works which this one did 5 month ago. Or be do something smart like give us the ability to download the legacy drives I don’t I know like 1.1.5 so I can update the FIRMWARE!!! THAN UPDATE CUEMIX 5.

  • Update: works with new firmware

The newest firmware doesn’t work with he latest version of CueMix, so now I can’t actually do anything without a computer.

Update: After toying with it a bit, it seems I had to open CueMix, then close it and re-open it in order to recognize my device. Once I did that, everything worked fine.
