This app is a must if you’re traveling to Kauai! We bought the newest addition of Andrew Doughty’s guidebook (13th edition) and saw his app recommendation in the book. It was well worth the money to download this app; as it helped us easily navigate the island and locate some pretty amazing sites. It truly is like having a personal tour guide riding shotgun in your car with you…giving very specific driving instructions and valuable tips along the way. It’s also nice that you can play your music in the background if you want to. And since it downloads to your phone, you have access to it all over the island…even when you don’t have cell service. Nice to know that this app is also available for purchase and download to use on the other Hawaiian islands as well! Brilliant idea!!Show lessKS Crew

Excellent value, like having a guided tour of the island, but where we decide where to go and at what pace. The narrator speaks up as we approach interesting things like nice beaches, walks, historical landmarks, etc. This app helped us make the most of our time on Kauai, and we learned a lot about the island and culture just by driving around. Very useful app, worth the money
I do not like to pay for apps, but this was worth every penny! After reading great reviews, and wanting to get the most out of our eight days on the island, we decided to purchase & we commented many times how great the app is. Andrew has a great narrator voice & the accuracy of the gps along with the content was all perfectly timed, with the right amount of content (historical, anecdotal, informative) balanced with quiet. What he shared was accurate and interesting with almost no exceptions. However, anything that was closed or not available may be a seasonal issue as we went during rainy season and things may have been closed due to that. We affectionately called our guide “Andy” & we turned him on every time we went in the car, hoping for a new tidbit of info. His tips took us to the popular destinations as well as remote beaches (one cloudy day, we went to about 6-7 all in a row on the north side), we even stopped into a specific 7-11 he suggested for a local food purchase (we didn’t love it—sorry “Andy”—but it was so fun to try!) One person within our group works on apps for a living and he thought it was great too! My family of 6 (2 grandparents, mom, dad and 2 kids 8 and 11 yrs old) absolutely loved this tour app. It completely enriched our experience in Kauai. Lots of history, tour, restaurant and beach recommendations and quick with a joke. Any time we were in the car we had the app running. Loved that we could play the local radio or our own music and the guide audio will come in and out. Would highly recommend and worth the app “splurge”.Show lessfelsey kord
Faulty expensive app and no support
This app was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed it until it stopped working 40 mins in.
It insisted I had to purchase to continue, which I had done a week previously, no matter what I tried. Later that night, I deleted the app, reloaded it and this morning it worked perfectly for 30 mins until it didn’t, again. I called the help/support number provided where it was suggested to text the same number as phone messages are less reliable. I left a voicemail and text and 9 hours later I have not received any response. I have lost 2 days use of this $25, non-functioning app and, I am not hopeful for the remainder of my time on Kauai. I am exceedingly disappointed as I had high hopes. 🙁Show lessTactics130

Cell service (which directly relates to Apple Maps or Google Maps) is pretty awful in a lot of the places on the island of Kauai. This app was a lifesaver helping us get around. The navigation help was great but we also especially enjoyed all the stories and the historical information. We had purchased the book Kauai Revealed but this app was actually so much more helpful considering the spotty cell service. It’s a little pricey, but I get it; a guy’s gotta make a living!Show lessLindy373

We are so glad you enjoyed all of the history and stories Andrew shares while you drive along. He's a pretty cheap tour guide when you think about it, because he's with you every day and you don't have to buy him mai tais when you are done touring... ;) Mahalo for being a loyal fan! Best “backseat” guide!
We can’t say enough good things about this app. When he says it will be like having him in the backseat, believe it. The way the GPS knows right where you are and the amazing detailed, educational and entertaining information you will receive is fantastic. Yes, it is much the same as the information you’ll get in the book. But who wants to have their nose in the book when you are driving around on the garden. Island in such beauty. The book can be your back up for when you want to revisit some information or find a restaurant. Best 20 bucks we spent on Kauai. Our only regret is that we didn’t use it on the big island.Show lessSister in song

I was so fortunate that a lady from Colorado told us about this app our first day in Princeville. We saw and learned things that made our trip the best I have ever had. The combination of stories, trivia, reviews, tips and manner of presentation just doubled our enjoyment of the island. We drove the whole island as our new best friend was “virtually” in the back seat. The writer truly has a gift and has obviously put in a tremendous amount of work to make this guide happen. I can’t tell you how much my wife and I appreciated having this app guide us around the beautiful island of Kauai during our visit! It truly is like having a friend in the car with you who has all the intimate details, accurate driving instructions, history of the island, and other cultural information to make for a completely enjoyable touring experience! We’ve used other apps on other islands and this one is by far the best, hands down. Andrew and his staff have really done their research, and you can be confident in their recommendations of things to do and see along the way, as well as their advice about things to avoid or be careful about (hiway speed traps!). Along the way Andrew sprinkles in a fair amount of humor and personal stories that keep the narrative light, yet informative. We highly recommend this app - its more than worth its price, and will greatly enhance your enjoyment and appreciation for this amazing island!
