Brilliant!
We can’t say enough good things about this GPS driving tour app. Best $20 we’ve ever spent on vacation! The Kauai Revealed book was in the condo we rented and it was indispensable. So glad we found the link to the app! It honestly changed our trip. We felt like Andy was in the back seat with us. So many of the scenic turn-offs we would never have found on our own. We loved the narration on the history and culture, and his personal stories. It made everything we saw so much more meaningful. Highly recommend!Show lessKayBee612

If your going to Kauai this is a must have.
For the first couple days we just drove around and stopped at what we could see that looked fun. We missed so much.
Found this app and it tells you about all the must see spots as you drive. Just turn it on and thats it. We were even directed to a beach that was not listed on any maps which turned out to be our favorite beach to hang out at.

Andrew Doughty’s “Kauai Revealed” app was sooo helpful on our trip to Kauai this week. Even though we also had his book to refer to, the driving app directed us to locations we most likely would never have found or thought to visit. His commentary was very enlightening and entertaining, with lots of valuable information on the history, culture, language, and respect for the customs of the Hawaiians.
One comment, however, on some of the hiking trails, is possibly listing a recommended ability level or age range. My husband and I are 75 and 78 and do a lot of hiking on the mainland, but found a few of these hikes a little too dicey for us. For instance, one of the “moderate” trails near Princeville, in addition to being steep with exposed roots, rocks and somewhat slippery conditions, even using the ropes to hold onto to get down to the beach, we decided to turn back! I was incredibly impressed with the precision of this app when driving around the island. The fact that it would give different narration depending on the direction you were driving on the road was far more than I was expecting. And the commentary was great. As soon as my wife complained about all the speed bumps the narration would comment as well. He really knows this island. A great supplement to the Revealed books.Show lessSpankjimmy

We have used the Revealed tour books for several trips, but Summer 2023 was the first time we used the driving apps. Our Kaua’i experience was so much better because of this driving app. The precise locations and directions made navigation easy, and we loved the fact it outright advised to not do certain stops over others. The historical and cultural pieces to the audio were also excellent and it was enjoyed by my wife, 12-year old son and me.Show lessRyBalt

We loved this app! The audio tour worked well in tracking our location, and was much handier to use in Waimea Canyon than our GPS since cell service was dodgy there. We loved hearing stories about Kauai’s history and culture. Because of this app we learned so much, and it directed us to sights we wouldn’t have known about otherwise! I wish there was a guide like this for every city I visit! Even though I also have the guidebook, this was DEFINITELY worth the additional investment! I didn’t need to do weeks of planning going into this trip. All we needed was this app to explain everything to us as we drove around. Sure you can google notable beaches and vistas but they are not as easy to find and park at as one would believe. The dude in this app knew it ALL, and not only that he is very unbiased and committed to providing reviews and suggestions of attractions and restaurants that are not swayed by anything other than his honest feedback. Which Google also doesn’t provide, nor do there many travel bloggers. They are sponsored.
Also we learned so much about Hawaiian history and culture and why there are chickens everywhere just be hanging out and touring the island. It added so much to our experience! Thanks for making this app, you are quite funny. And have a soothing voice.Show lessLaderBlades

Been to Kauai several times over the years, but latest was 17 years ago. Got the APP and found new places missed over the years. Enjoyed the stories along the way too. He’s a little tough on the Kauai Coffee tour, but we really enjoyed that along with their coffee shop and mainland prices for large scoops of ice cream. Don’t stop at Lappert’s in Princeville that he recommends, they were rude, ice cream in very small portions and not that good. Another thing he doesn’t tell you that a lot of places are closed on the weekends. Such as the Niihau bead shop in Koloa.
Other than those little things the APP is a must have and I’ll give it 5 stars!Show lessMauiJim029

The businesses closed days are ever changing as we suffer staffing issues here, like many other places. Luckily, you can just keep driving and enjoy the next sight along your way. Such fun to have an audiobook companion for our meandering around the island. I didn’t realize it would be so user friendly - just download ahead of time, make sure your phone is plugged into power and go.
