  • Amazing

Easy to use and I like it a lot and it helps a lot and is less overwhelming than other apps the design is very clearly made with lots of research in how AAC users and other people use words and what words you use the most. Very nice app very helpful.

Hi and thank you for your five star rating and review. We DID undertake a lot of research and we are glad you are happy with the result. We have just released a new update with the brand new Thinking Space, so if you have not updated Proloquo to version 5, we highly recommend you update and check it out!

Hi Zendrix mendoza. Thank you for your five star review. Happy customers make us happy! If you have any questions or feedback about the app, please know you can email us anytime at support@assistiveware.com.
  • Great but possible tech fix needed

I began using the original Proloquo2go when I was having bouts of expressive Aphasia in college. Now I find it an easier way to work with trauma from my past and to express hidden feelings. I like the new app has a much wider breadth of the vocabulary and is more age-appropriate. I am writing in also to express some frustration because I’m having trouble tapping, the last tab on the app. I’m not sure if anyone else has written in to say the same thing it could just be my phone, but I also wrote this to Express my thanks as well!
    Thank you!

Hi Gatocrecre. Thank you for your positive review. We are so glad to hear you are enjoying the wider vocabulary available in Proloquo. Regarding that last tab, it is not meant to be tapped unless you are toggling between Related Words and the conjunctions. If you email us at support@assistiveware.com we would be happy to talk you through how this tab works differently from the others.
  • I have mixed feelings

I love that I have a range of new words choices and related words but I’m disappointed I can’t change the size of font to make it easier to read and show others what I need . It would be great if assistware could some how force to large display once message has been created also to display paragraph or long sentence or difficult to write

  • This is the best

I’m autistic and it supports my needs and the app is really good

  • Not accessible

It’s frustrating how many apps for disabled people are not adaptable.
There are maybe 300 buttons? Way too overwhelming. Not being able to delete buttons/start with a few and then add more with time has made this unusable for us. You can add more, but you can’t remove any. I hope it helps others, but was useless for us and expensive. Yet another loss of money on a product that didn’t deliver for our child.

Hi Peapn. As a parent of an autistic child, I deeply understand your frustration. We strive to provide the best solutions for our children, and the journey is often very, very challenging. What you’re experiencing is genuinely difficult, and I’m sorry that Proloquo has added to your frustration. I encourage you to explore our website’s Learn AAC (www.assistiveware.com/learn-aac) and Blog (www.assistiveware.com/blog) sections. These resources explain the principles behind Proloquo’s design. Research shows that hiding or removing buttons does not aid language development and can sometimes be detrimental. Every one of the 48 words on the Home screen is carefully selected to support effective communication, though we acknowledge the added challenge this places on communication partners for modeling. We also understand and acknowledge that Proloquo may not be the right fit for every circumstance. That’s why we offer a free 30-day trial, allowing families to determine if it meets their needs before committing financially. Please know we are here to support you in your AAC journey and we are happy to answer any questions you might have at support@assistiveware.com.
  • Useless for phones

Don’t get this as a quick help at home on your phone. You’ll waste your money. Can’t even see everything and can’t see to change screens etc.

    Developer Response

Hi Hello everyone 3. We are sorry to hear you are disappointed with your purchase of Proloquo. Please know that the iPhone is not the primary device for Proloquo as it is not possible to fit the full vocabulary on such a small screen. It is really meant to be used as an auxiliary device. We do offer a free 30 day trial so that potential users can try the app on any and all devices to see if it is suitable. We do not want our customers to feel they are wasting their money.
  • Langue

    Ce serait utile en français

    Developer Response

  • Paid subscription

Didn’t realize there would be a monthly/yearly fee. I wish that had been more up front before downloading it to all my kids devices. I’m sure this is a great app but I now have to do a bunch more research to see if I have to pay monthly for every device or if it’s available for family sharing.

    Developer Response

Hi The Opressionist. We're sorry that you are unhappy with the purchasing model for our AAC app. It is indeed a paid app after the 1-month trial. That information should be visible when downloading, but we would be happy to hear your feedback as to how we can make it even more visible for our customers. Please email us at support@assistiveware.com about this, and so we can share information about how to share the app within your family for free. We look forward to hearing from you! :-)
  • Game changer!

As a Speech Language Pathologist who works with teachers and students daily, I cannot stress what an improvement this app is on anything that was available previously. Proloquo seamlessly blends principles of several different AAC systems into one, regularly updated app. The vocabulary is robust, and covers a broad age range. It is the first AAC I have used that already contains curriculum based vocabulary for school aged children. This allows it to be better utilised by both teachers and students alike. The app assumes competence and never disadvantages a user by purposefully limiting vocabulary range or type.

The free licensing for therapists and first month free, as well as subscription based approach to payment mean that this system can be trialled with a user before committing financially. Previously, families were forking out hundreds of dollars in one go, sometimes discovering a year down the track that another AAC system might be more appropriate for their child. The cost is no more than a Netflix or Spotify subscription and the app can be loaded onto a device that a huge portion of the population already own.

App development takes time and costs money, but AssistiveWare have taken the time to learn from past users and previous app flaws in order to build a great product, as well as create resources that are freely available to families and communication partners. They regularly engage with communities who use AAC and ask for feedback in order to continuously improve.

I only wish Proloquo had been available at the beginning of my career!

Hi Lily Delores Wilks. Thank you so much for your glowing five star review. We truly appreciate our customers taking the time to review the app and letting us know what they like about it. Hearing from a school based professional how much you appreciate the curriculum based vocabulary is amazing! And you hit the nail on the head with how easy it is to trial the app - this was very important to us with Proloquo. Thank you again for taking the time to share what you love about the app!
