iPad gets stuck on startup in the language selection

I did previously select my language, English. I love the app by many times when I try to start the program, it gets stock in the language selection. When I select next, nothing happens. I’m using a 6th generation iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard. To keep my work and be able to access it on my iPhone 15, I have to back out of the area I’m working in so it can sync to my phone. Then if the program freeze on startup, I uninstall and reinstall the BSF program. It seems like that is my only choice when it freezes.

Could be so much more

This app could be so much better. For instance, when reading the notes and there’s a footnote, it takes you to the bottom of the page to read it. That works well when you’re reading paper notes. But with this app, you have to scroll all the way back to where you were reading, which isn’t always easy to find again, unless you specifically say to yourself, “ok, I was at the fourth paragraph in section two” or something similar to that. There should be a sentence bubble that pops up that you can close. That would work better.

Also when a question has multiple Bible verses that require an answer to each one, you should have multiple input fields for each verse. But this app has seven verses and only one input box.

App has bug

Love the app, but Apple Music is blocking the app from streaming properly through Bluetooth in the car. Because Apple has coded music to ALWAYS PLAY in the car, when I tap play on the lecture or notes music also plays. Since Fleetwood Mac was a song played a lot that song plays while the BSF lectures or notes are also streaming. This makes it very difficult to concentrate. Turning off Play next, turning off the infinity symbol and turning off shuffle on all songs in my entire library doesn’t stop the music while also the BSF app is streaming. This doesn’t happen when not in the car streaming over blue tooth. Both of my cars also display the message that nothing is playing when this occurs. I spent two hours on a trouble call with Apple and the tech person says this is a problem. However I also think the app is not telling the phone it’s streaming and to stop other apps from interjecting. It should function also with navigation. When navigation speaks a direction the other app playing music or a lecture should pause they shouldn’t play at the same time. I really think it’s a combination of Apple problem with auto play forced on and this app not sending a signal it’s streaming content. The solution for now has been to delete the music app and subscribe to another service that has a feature to shut off auto play. However being I have an iPhone it would be nice if both BSF and Apple Music didn’t play at the same time when in the car on my commute. Thank you.

Not loading lessons

Just downloaded the app but there is nothing showing on the Lessons tab. Not sure why as other tabs seem to be working ok.

Not as helpful as what it was

The links to the Bible passages aren’t working in the app.

No lecture or notes access

I am enrolled in a class and have logged into the app as I normally would for the website yet in the app there is no lecture or notes access.

I’ve tried signing out and in again many times but this does not help.

Any ideas?

Constantly switches back to Online Class

I’m an in-person BSF attendee and I love this app for being able to access Bible verses right there instead of having to switch back and forth with a Bible app. I like that I can listen to the notes and lecture on it. But it’s constantly defaulting to online member which does not have access to any of that. It took a while to figure this out after I reinstalled it a few times. It’s not the end of the world but I wish I could remove the “online member” option.

App has lots of issues

I have used the app for about two and a half years. I like working with a printed lesson and have used the app to quickly pull up all the Bible verses instead of flipping around on my personal Bible or a Bible app. It makes it so easy to just tap the bubble and read the lesson notes from the previous week (or listen to them) and access the the verses as you work through the questions. But recently, it has become virtually impossible to take advantage of those features. My leader even stated in class that the Lesson notes, scriptures, and lecture weren’t available on the app. I have not used the app to write answers because the one time I tried, there just wasn’t enough space to complete my answers. And…it didn’t save my answers for printing. That could be because I missed a step needed to save my work, but there wasn’t a prompt to do that.
I love BSF and would enjoy a more useable and consistently reliable app. I think it would be important for the developers to actually work with an individual in BSF to insure it is providing what’s necessary to make using the app worthwhile. This week I have spent way too much time trying to make it do what it is supposed to do.

App Glitches This Year

It has become increasingly difficult to use the app this year. Last year I exclusively used the app for my reading and responses with no issues. This year, despite having the latest versions and deleting and re-installing it several times, I can’t get the notes for the previous week to stay and as I’m studying, the verses will open once then not open again. Or the app will freeze, and open the verses five times in a row. It’s extremely frustrating. As a mother with multiple small children, the app was convenient for me to study anywhere and now I can’t do that.

Performance:

I am grateful for this app because I have temporary low vision and it is easy to use plus has all biblical materials included both in print and audio formats. Quite robust. In this regard, the app is well designed. My main issue is when copying/pasting and typing your answers, the app can hang for a short period, will move to a different section of the page especially when pasting and can close on its own. I have verified good internet speed by using Speedtest to measure my performance - 300+ mbps, so not my internet. If does not stop me from using the app as I need it. The convenience to work on your lesson from anywhere is great.

Response from developer

Thank you for this feedback - glad to hear you are enjoying the app for the most part. The website developers are aware of the App intermittent hanging/freezing. Be on the lookout for updates to come that will prayerfully resolve this issue. Thanks for your patience, prayers, and understanding as we work to continue to improve the BSF App!
