Stagnant Gacha TNG Game
The developers of this game seem to largely be knowledgable of TNG lore, less so of Discovery, and next to nothing about DS9 or Voyager. (There are characters from Enterprise, Picard and Strange New Worlds, but they don't figure into the storyline at all.) Worf looks like the TNG Worf, but sometimes acts like the DS9 Worf. He knows Odo but doesn't seem to know Martok at all. He knows Sisko, but Sisko doesn't seem to know him. I know the developers might wave their hands and say this is a time travel story, so we aren't necessarily getting the versions of these people from the prime universe, but it just feels like lazy research and writing. The character choices are sometimes weird. There are 4 versions of Picard, but no Lore or Wesley Crusher. We get Thadiun, the guy who turned out not to be Picard's son and only appeared in one episdoe of TNG, while there are other major characters (like Captain Archer) who aren't included.
This is designed to be a casino type gacha game like Raid: Shadow Legends or Summoners War. Of course, a gacha game doesn't work within the Apple Arcade business model. Gacha games require third-party payment methods from impatient people who don't want to work through games, so the developers took their game over to Steam and apparently stopped adding new content here. Unfortunately, Steam is only offering the newer version for play on Windows.Show lessBasic Waste of Time
I like this game. However, its license has been sold to Steam, so it looks like it won't receive any updates on Apple Arcade anymore. I imagine the game will probably be pulled from Apple Arcade after its license runs out. If that happens, everyone's progress on Apple Arcade will probably be lost. What's worse, it looks like Steam, while offering the game for free, is only going to produce it for Windows OS, so that basically screws over Apple users. I don't know if all the bugs in this game have to do with developers' claims that it's difficult to develop games for Apple. It kind of seems like laziness on developers' part, but what can you do? It also looks like the developers wanted this to be a gacha game in the first place so they could make money hand over fist, but that's just not a genre Apple accommodates (and good for them). If you play something like Raid: Shadow Legends or Summoners War, you'll see that Star Trek Legends is modeled after those kinds of games.Show lessUnfinished Product
It's fun seeing all these characrters incorporated into a story that draws upon material from the prime universe. However, it seems this game was released before it was finished. Worf looks like mid-series TNG Worf, but sometimes he acts like the DS9 Worf (he knows Odo very well) but other times like the TNG Worf (he doesn't seem to know Martok at all). During one mission, Kirk shows up out of nowhere to flirt with a Klingon woman. I don't know where he came from. He certainly isn't on my crew roster, and there aren't any doubles of him anywhere else in that storyline. Some of the character choices are odd, too. We get 4 versions of Picard (one of which is Dixon Hill!) and his one-shot fake pirate son, but no Wesley Crusher, Rom, Nog, Ezri Dax, or Lore.Show less
