Reviews of Omni Crosswords

  • Was Great, Latest Update Giving Me Issues

Edit: Since updating the app, my phone starts acting erratically when I do a crossword. Not every crossword, but a handful of times now (enough for me to finally trace it to this app), I’ll be working on a crossword and my phone will start behaving as though there are rapid taps and swipes on screen. Worse, it continues to do it for a while outside of the app.

I thought my phone was breaking, then I thought somehow my case was causing it (which led to me buying a new case). I finally realized it only happened while playing a crossword (and then afterward for a while), and doesn’t happen if I stay out of this app.

I’ve deleted the app. I’ll update this review if I continue having the problem even without this app (as there’s a possibility I’m pinning the blame on this app when it’s not the cause.)

Original review: Been using this app for a while now and mostly love it. The biggest longtime issue is it drains battery very fast, makes my phone pretty warm, and occasionally relaunches without having saved my progress on a crossword.
  • Really Good, Room For Improvement

Been using this app for a while now and mostly love it. The biggest longtime issue is it drains battery very fast and occasionally relaunches without having saved my progress on a crossword.

Also the latest update broke swipe-to-move and the main menu settings for me (I am on iphone SE 2 and ios 17.5.1) The broken swipe-to-move is especially rough, as it’s annoying to play without.

Again, those issues aside, wonderful app, thanks for making!
  • Great app but needs optimization…

This is probably one of the best crossword apps on the store. Unfortunately it has one fatal flaw - after a few minutes of use my phone noticeably heats up and my battery starts rapidly draining. This problem existed when I first tried this app some years ago, and it is disappointing to see that this issue still persists despite some apparent attempts (according to the patch notes) at fixing this. I badly want to give this app 5 stars, but since using it is not really practical right now I can’t. If this gets fixed I will amend my rating and review accordingly.
