Such a great STEAM activity!
This is such a great idea--my kids LOVE art. They love to draw, and they also love video games, tech, and coding. This product is such an amazing way for my kids to enjoy all of those things without having to rely on the traditional consoles. This has also been amazing for my 5-year-old--he's now able to play games with his older siblings that are age-appropriate, allow him to get to be a part of the creation process, and even play games that his sissy and brother have made for him! We love it! Thankfully we already had iPads at home to use for game creation--that's the only caveat to an otherwise brilliant product. I'm also extremely excited to try this in my classroom next year for a fun STEAM activity! I received this product free for testing purposes in exchange for my honest review.Show lessfrenchebilly
Great way to get kids into video game design!
Easy to use app. Fun activity. My kids 7 & 8 and their friends have been having a great time with this app. It’s very straight forward. The “kit” you can buy to go along with it is nice in that it gives step by step guidance to good design. The games themselves are relatively simple old school style arcade games. Kids’ creations come to life
If you want your kids to start using their imagination and start coloring again, this App with the product will do both. This game allows kids to see their creations come to life. All you need is plain white paper, a device to put the app on, and the markers that come with the product. Kids can use the booklets provided for examples of different types of games that can be created. There are seven different types of games that can be made. It is recommended for children ages 6 and up if they have help and ages 10 and up can usually figure it out. All of the kids who have tried this at our house have enjoyed it and it kept them busy for a couple hours.Show lessej9718
So much fun!
I hosted a game night with Pixicade and all the kids enjoyed creating their own games with Pixicade! I love the concept that they can use their artistic skills and creativity to design interactive games that they can play with their friends. This game also makes a great gift for kids because they can spend hours creating, drawing and having so much fun while doing it!Show lessselliesel
Great creative outlet for kids!
I received 2 boxes a part of a free review promotion. I was excited for my daughter to be able to create her own games to play electronically.
I think the easiest way to get started is to play the games that are already in the app. It definitely gives you a wide variety of options, and it helps the kids see what the app can do and then they can generate their own ideas.
When sharing these game kits with friends and family, I was most surprised to see the creative/crafty kids take to this app more than the others. Even more than those that like to play electronic games. So I’d say this app appeals to a wide variety of players.Show lessTK in IL
Great STEAM Activity
The app took some time to learn and at first it frustrated my 8 year old and his friends but once they got the hang of it, they enjoyed the creative game play. We did have some issues with the app closing but after some trouble shooting it worked fine. My suggestions is to let the kids know it’s a learning experience and their “games” will improve with practice.Show lessKidFire12345
Excellent value and So Original
Pixicade combines drawing with animation to create your own playable games. Kids age 8 and age 13 and their friends loved creating and playing. This is a sophisticated app that has editing tools so you can feel like you are a little bit like a programmer, and it gives you ways to customize what you make and succeed. Awesome
I’m not a gamer by any means and this was so fun. My 2 boys loved it. We went over the instructions and before I was even done they were already drawing and ready to snap a picture. My 8 year old had a blast making it better and testing it out…he even wanted to to record him commentating his game like a youtuber. The instructions are straight forward. The different books allows for different and progressively more challenging games. The markers are washable. The platform was easy enough for me to navigate so you know the kiddos didn’t have a problem. Hours of fun!
We have been having so much fun playing this game! It so fun playing all of the games others have created but it’s even more fun creating our own! I do wish there were a few more editing features, such as extending something in one direction vs having to change the entire scale of it and being able to have a draw/erase feature in case you need to add something in (like an extra piece of floor to reach something too high or a goal when two elements were touching and get erased together). I love seeing the ideas my kids come up with and creating games myself! I love seeing my kids work through the creative process and learn about how mistakes and failures pave the path to success. Great for all ages!
I have a 6 and 9 year old who can use this app independently. They love taking the time to draw the boards - and I love that they’re being creative - as well as having the ability to tweak the board after it’s loaded, and then playing and sharing the game with friends. It’s a nice compromise for a parent who doesn’t want their kid playing games mindlessly, but doesn’t want to restrict them from devices altogether.
