  • Can’t make photo option work.

I am very anxious to identify a vine growing in the ivy in my garden but I can’t get the app to work nor can I get a chat response from anyone. It is not poison ivy, not poison oak, and not Virginia Creeper. It has a single palmate leaf with five points that are all part of one leaf, not five separate petals joined on a single petiole. If I can’t get this to work, I want to cancel it immediately. I tried to do that yesterday and got nowhere. Very disappointed!!!

Hey Bertie Bay! If you're having troubles of having a certain feature to work, please reach us at apps@straitonapps.com and we'll help you figure it out. The plant you're describing could be a type of Passiflora :) Best regards, PlantMe Team
  • Don’t waste your money,

I’m an hour into the trial and I will not be paying them weekly for this lame app.
It doesn’t have half of the pretty common plants grown in the Midwest in gardens and flower pots. I had to manually ID 1/3-1/2 of the plants because the scan (which I did as instructed) was not only wrong, but was way off…Would call something a weed that’s not, and is also something that doesn’t grow here. The app also needs to take into account one persons weed in one part of the world is another’s decorative plant. Ex: Salt Cedar. Noxious Weed here, treasured in other places, as is WormWood which is also an invasive and noxious weed here.
Must be for a different country or region?
It is over priced and essentially useless.
Care instructions are incorrect, the botanist doesn’t take into account regional differences in plant care in guidelines as well as climate, weather, common sense isn’t common.

Hey Truehonestfeedback I'm sorry! We would appreciate you sharing what kind of plants you'd like to see via apps@straitonapps.com so that we can research them and add them to the database. We agree that plant hold different meanings in different parts of the world. However, if a plant is considered a weed that just means it could be invasive or difficult to remove. It doesn't change the symbolism of it :) Thank you for the feedback, we'll take all your points to consideration! Best regards, PlantMe Team
  • Rip off

If I could have rated this app without giving one start I would have. This is a rip off scam. You cannot get rid of this thing. They better not charge me for this. They intentionally make it to where you can’t get it off your phone. There needs to be a law suit over this. How many ppl get charged and can’t stop it. Add that up even if it was a dollar. Rip off scammers. This is wrong. Not worth one star. Nothing worth $8 a week. This one for sure. Ppl do not download this app you’ll be stuck paying and can’t get rid of it. That’s how they make their money. What a shame what a scam. So sad it has to be that way. Why can’t it be so simple and honest. When it comes to money all integrity goes out the window. This is criminal.

  • Inaccurate - DONT USE

this app is incorrect almost every time. I downloaded it mostly so I can identify potentially hazardous plants in my yard, as I have young children who walk through them daily. The app would tell me that some of the wild plants werent even in the correct plant family - like a flat plant growing by the stream, it said it was lillies of the valley when it clearly was not (no bell shape, no white flowers, etc).
On top of it, they refuse to refund me for my subscription. They claim that the app works the same way in the subscription as it does the free trial. Awful customer service!

Hey Ssso fu! We're sorry to hear the app wasn't useful to you. Please don't forget that you can always consult with our botanist or ask advice in the Community if the identification feature wasn't enough. Sincerely, PlantMe Team
  • Price

I loved the app itself but I gotta say the cost of it is outrageous I mean absolutely ridiculous, I have to many priorities where I can’t even afford this app because not only is it expensive but it’s a weekly charge!!! I need to use my funds for more important things like food and clothes for my children. Looks like I’ll be going back to the good old google for my plant research.

  • Can't ID the most obvious grass species accurately

As with every other app that seeks to identify plants, this app is no different in that it cannot identify grasses. Even the most basic example like the offset leaf pattern of centipede grass is misidentified. Even find bladed zoysia grass as identified as Saint Augustine. If you were looking for non-grass identification and don't need grass ID this would be sufficient I'm sure. Miss identifying grass could result in disastrous effects for homeowner. it is quite possible that it identifies everything as Saint Augustine grass as it is one of the most susceptible to herbicides and they don't want you putting chemicals on your lawn when it is identified for example as Bermuda and you really have centipede grass because it will kill your centipede grass dead if you put the wrong herbicide on., Not for me.

Please don't forget that you can always consult with our pro botanist regarding any lawn and grass specifics or you can ask advice in the community as well! Please reach us via apps@straitonapps.com and tell us more about the species you were unable to identify so we can double-check them and add them to the database. Sincerely, PlantMe Team
  • Not worth the trouble

If your downloading the app like I did to just identify a think here or there it’s likely not worth the trouble, easier to just ask a group on FB I see the app’s team replied to another user that you can opt to a different payment schedule that’s less, and I would maybe consider keeping the ap and paying if I could even FIND how to do that. I can’t. And now that my free trials up I’d like to cancel the entire subscription and can’t find how to even do that.

  • It should be free if I still need to use Google

It took 3 or 4 tries before the app correctly identified my plant. It kept trying to identify it as something it clearly wasn’t. When it finally did get it right, it wouldn’t even give me the correct variety. So I had to go to google to research which variety it was. Once I found the correct variety, I started researching care needs and what might be causing the brown spots on the leaves. The advice I found was the complete opposite of what the app said. I don’t think the care tips were specific to that plant. They looked like they were very general tips that could be applied to a lot of plants, but not all. Honestly, I wouldn’t be so harsh on the app if it didn’t cost $8 a week. Seems more like a cash grab than the developers using the money to make a good app.

  • RECOGNITION DOESN’T WORK

I needed help identifying a flower in a bouquet that we received as a gift - pretty standard bouquet. My cat chewed on some of the flowers and my fear was that one of them was a Lily, which are LETHAL to cats. I am no plant/flower expert and I wanted confirmation of whether the flower that my cat had chewed was a Lily or not. So, I download the app, scan the flower and the result comes back “Lily”. My heart sank into my stomach, rushed my cat to a Veterinarian Emergency Hospital, and prayed that by some miracle my cat would survived that death sentence that lilies are to cats. When I met with the doctor, she asked to see a picture of the flower, so I showed her… it was a tulip… A TULIP!!!! Thankfully, it meant that my cat would be perfectly fine and I’m just an overreactive pet parent, but I trusted this app! It misled me by providing wrong information on a SUPER BASIC flower. The developer and the company owe me the $150 I spent on the Vet ER and I will be sure to tell and share this story with as many friends and family as I can, so that they know that this app and the results/information DO NOT WORK/ARE WRONG.

Hey rhbfrogs! We're sad to hear about this situation and we're extremely glad your cat is okay! Even though the AI of the app has been improving a lot, there could sometimes be misidentifications. Moreover, some plants have several names, including tulips, and not all lilies are harmful to pets. Please always double check and we're sorry you got into this situation in the first place. Best regards, PlantMe Team
  • Bummed

Wish the app allowed you to upload a photo from your own picture roll : gallery. I take plenty of plant photos and save for later when I have the time to research them. I don’t see an option for this, only an option to take a photo of a plant. :/
The AI chat is weak. It’s not specific to the app so it will give you general tools or info for generic stuff not applicable to Plant App.
