I’ve never even seen such a shameless app and management.

I spent $30 at the beginning, now without any notice, they forced me to spend extra monthly fee, and they require donations all the time. Shameless on you, just like a money hole!

The latest version (v1.2.6) makes it clearer to new users as they register, that the app requires a subscription to be purchased once the one month free trial period is over, but that the user can still access their Warmshowers account for free using the website if they decide not to pay for a subscription. It is NOT the case that users are forced to pay for a subscription to continue to access the account paid for by the initial registration fee.

Says I’m offline every time I try to view host profiles

Just downloaded the app, logged into my account, then navigated to a city. I see the icons for hosts, but when I click one then click “full profile” it tells me I’m offline.

I am connected to WiFi, and I have strong cell reception. Tried messing with settings in the app and nothing seemed to fix it.

This is a mess

Wow. I haven’t used this app in a long time so I didn’t know how it had changed. I think it’s fine to charge a little per a month for cyclists to help keep this app up. But I’m trying to be a HOST in a very popular long haul cycling area where there are like no hosts and it’s just not organized for hosts. And cuz it’s so focused on getting money out of people that if you are trying to be a HOST it doesn’t remember you marked host and ALWAYS cycles you back to the GIVE US MONEY page. So frustrating. Make this easier for hosts.

Finally! A stable app on the go

I live the app and am so happy to see it is now available for my iPhone. I’ve been a long time user of the Warmshowers website and using the site on the phone can be difficult at times. With the app, I just open it, it finds my current location and I can see all of the hosts around me! I even get pop up notifications if someone sends me a message. Very cool!

Buggy

The app crashes quite often, especially when scrolling around the map. Not as good as the website yet but ok. I happily subscribed as I believe the organisation behind it will continue working to make the app very useful.

Like all things in life I’m sure it will take a few tries to work out all the bugs through updates but I love the layout and functionality of this app. I can’t wait to use it once I get back on the road after this whole covid thing is over.
I know this has been a long time coming and y’all nailed it! Great work!

Thanks for your kind words. We just released version 1.1.7 to the App Store which we believe resolves some of the stability issues being encountered. In particular it addresses a problem in the map component which could cause the app to crash on iOS devices.
