Quite terrible
What a difference from the website. The UI is bad. Need to log in which is fine but then it did not remember me and I had to log in again. Does not remember my password. No Face ID (lol) that would be too advanced for the level of this app.
Also they want an active subscription. On the website it works with donations. It feels like a scam, maybe this is just a fake. In any case even if this is the real warmshowers, the app is so bad developed that a subscription to cover the costs of making the app doesn’t really make sense. Piece of junk
I should not have paid for this. It doesn’t let me login. It tells me I have no internet when I do so I cannot see profiles. Nothing works properly. Do not use it. Use the browser. Don’t pay for this.80south
Unreliable
For an app for bicyclists who will only have access to their phone and probably not their computer, it’s pretty unreliable. It will often say I’m offline when I’m not, and won’t display all of the message threads I’ve had with people (both of those are pretty vital). Otherwise, works fairly well. The map seems to show available hosts and I can view peoples profiles thoroughly.Show lessThesoundlady27
Can’t load / login
First used warmshowers several years ago just before the website died. I’d donated a few times so don’t, in principle, mind the subscription fee as understand it must be a weighty thing to maintain. Reality is though that this app should be canned and just run a mobile first website instead, hopefully saving ongoing developer fees and lowering overall cost back to a level which can be sustained by donations. Soooooo many bugs…
When Warmshowers was free, any bugs were part of the experience, no complaints. But now that a membership is required we can expect a smooth navigation and use…. Far from being the case…. Too badkiakaha!
Paid to join…charged again?
Signed up and paid the $30 fee. The decision to charge for the app is fine by me, but why not comp people who paid already a year? Simple enough to do surely?Micradottoo
Terrible app for on old good service
The app is terrible, laggy even on the latest devices and crash constantly. Unusable on iPhone 13pro.
The ask for subscription as soon as you try to click on something is annoying at least, bad design dark pattern to get users in.
I really hope the owner of the app the website realise that they are killing a low key, human and great service by those practises.Show lessSimeon345
Payment required
Was hoping for a free app, or donation based, but instead payment is required once you log in and I don’t even know whether the app is buggy or useful etc. You should definitely reconsider charging userstwigdip
I’ve never even seen such a shameless app and management.
I spent $30 at the beginning, now without any notice, they forced me to spend extra monthly fee, and they require donations all the time. Shameless on you, just like a money hole!carelessus
Developer Response
The latest version (v1.2.6) makes it clearer to new users as they register, that the app requires a subscription to be purchased once the one month free trial period is over, but that the user can still access their Warmshowers account for free using the website if they decide not to pay for a subscription. It is NOT the case that users are forced to pay for a subscription to continue to access the account paid for by the initial registration fee.
