Still not compatible

I bought the pro version and still not using it .. coz they didn’t made it compatible with sony a7R 5 as they promised when I bought it

Response from developer

Support for the a7r V has been released! Please email help@witharsenal.com if you have any trouble getting connected. We're always happy to help!

It just doesn’t work.

The promise is great. And once in a while it’ll pull off a great shot. But that’s at the expense of mass frustration during which I could have captured many pictures myself and done better in post-processing. The one feature I really wanted to work (pseudo-long exposure) remains totally unusable despite multiple support tickets, sample submissions and even video of it misbehaving going back over a year.
Bottom line, save your money. Use traditional techniques.

For now a 5 star review

Overall I love the device it’s small, easy to setup kinda, yesterday when I was doing a photo shoot only half the files saved properly for deep color, thankfully I don’t rely on that as my only method for good shots but still somewhat disappointing, the only other disappointing thing is if I have live view on it’s about 1 second delayed to my camera, overall once I get to know the features more and use it more I will like it more, the pics I’ve used in deep color are dramatically better in every way, I haven’t tried many other modes yet but I’m excited to

False Expectations and Changing Timelines

If you have a newer, don’t count on support for a very long time. The website shows that the Canon R6 mark 2 is supported by the Arsenal 2 Pro decide but once hooked up to the camera, the app says the device doesn’t support the Canon R6 mark 2. Very disappointing as it seems based on reviews online this company is known to very delayed on anything they say. Save the money and don’t bother with this device.

Do not trust the cables you order from them

The cables from Arsenal are absolute terrible quality and WILL stop working at the most inopportune time. 6 hour drive north, several thousand dollars of camera equipment, and TWICE the terrible cable (from the Arsenal and Arsenal 2) has stopped functioning. Buy a different cable before you go somewhere far away. I will not be buying a 3 when it comes out, and will be doing things manually.

Unreliable

Not sure if it’s the app or the unit but it locks up and is unresponsive often. I have used it several times and only once did the app work to take Milky Way photos.

Disastrous

Fuji owners beware: Fuji cameras does not have menu setting to disable usb-c charging. The moment, I connected A2 to my cam, the battery started draining fast. Just by having connected to phone and camera, the battery on A2 drains about 1% a minute. The camera LED on right thumb rest on my x-t3 is lit solid green, indicating “charging” via usb-c. I factory reset the camera, all shooting settings and set power management to ‘normal’ and the battery drain issue does not change. So, I took the battery out of camera and attached the vertical grip with batteries to see if I could eliminate the problem of camera drawing power from A2 and the app crashed and went to original Arsenal set up menu (even though I never owned arsenal 1 or I have never downloaded Arsenal 1 app). Now, it would not let me connect to the iphone app anymore. The whole experience has been a disaster. The tech support via email has been unable to resolve this issue and now they seem to have given up on me. Additionally, when I was able to connect to the A2 device, it doesn’t recognize xf 50mm f1.0. It was only showing f1.4 at its widest in both auto and manual mode. Update: they sent me a new cable for the battery drain. it’s 02/17/2023 and still no support for x-t5. Never again.

Response from developer

Thanks for the update. We're glad to hear the new cable resolved the issue you were experiencing with your X-T3. We'll be sure to make an announcement if we add support for the X-T5. If you haven't already, please consider voting for it on our site: https://witharsenal.com/supported-cameras. The amount of demand we see there is one of the primary factors we consider when deciding which cameras should be added to the supported list. Please don't hesitate to email help@witharsenal.com if we can be of assistance. We're always happy to help!

Very disappointing experience

The app and/or device freeze constantly. Customer service wasn’t helpful. They blamed it on my brand new lens. But the problem persists with all three of my lenses.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble there. We're fully committed to getting this resolved. Would you please email a brief screen recording of the issue to help@witharsenal.com? Thanks!

Pretty good, but still needs some work.

I’ve been using Arsenal 2 for several months now, and it is useful for a lot of different things, but the deep color feature, the main reason I got Arsenal 2, has some serious problems. You’d think that since it’s only affecting contrast, color, and exposure, the AI would be able to zero in on just those areas, but, at least on my Arsenal 2, deep color only has a clear single image if the slider is at the far left (no changes) or the far right (100% changed) only. Anything in-between is blurry and looks like multiple exposures misaligned, and many of my photos would benefit in that area between 0-100 if I’m just doing that simple adjustment in-app vs importing into Lightroom or another editing program.

I’ve been shooting astro scapes for over a decade; and I decided to try the night mode on Arsenal 2 to see what it would give me. This is another major disappointment…

If you want pinpoint stars, just stick to manual mode and learn the proper settings for your camera, latitude, aperture, and focal length… then adjust your ISO accordingly…. You can even use those settings through Arsenal 2’s app directly, and it will save you so many headaches than trying to do the night mode. Every single time I tried to do a night photo through the app’s night mode feature, it either had star trails (too long of an exposure time), or the exposure itself was too far over or underexposed to get anything useful.

Trouble with Nikon D750

Can not review photos when setup for viewing in hand manual mode . tilt camera 90 degrees down after pushing power button 2 time’s quickly on arsenal . my Nikon D750 says display is not available…..was told by support to unhook the camera from arsenal then view my photos through my camera. I really would like to change this to 5 stars but can’t if I can’t properly review or use this 300 plus dollar device that sets on my desk holding papers down. While I wait how ever long for a fix or a replacement unit and cable judge for yourselves with this information in mind………………….I am willing to try a new unit exchange under warranty or refund mfg choice I guess
