Frustrated and annoyed

I am no pro but then again that is why this device exists.
Just about every time I have tried this it has been a failure. I don’t give up easily but it’s getting close to becoming a projectile into a cement wall

Response from developer

Sorry for the trouble here. Please email help@witharsenal.com with a bit more detail on what's happening and we'll get this resolved. Thanks!

Slow performance, not intuitive

It’s hard to tell exactly how to use different features in the app. For instance, the crowd control feature doesn’t seem to be anywhere obvious in the app. Am I to assume that it is just always active? I have also read that output image quality is low, which really defeats the purpose of this device.

Hi there. Please send an email to help@witharsenal.com and we can help you locate Crowd Control and explain the stacking options and image sizes. Thanks!

Not ready

I bought the phone mount with my Arsenal. It causes the images to be upside down or portrait depending on camera rotation. I can keep live view on the camera and watch the live view on my phone do just stupid maneuverers that the camera doesn’t. Add to the fact that this seems to offer all the features of the free Nikon app with the added headache of additional hardware, I’m not impressed.

—edit
The handheld mode has been added but it is STILL lacking features showcased on their website. Still not ready for release after more than a year of delays. They attributed delays to part shortage, so why is the software not finished?

Response from developer

We’ve recently released live view rotation for the app. Please update to the latest build, set your Arsenal Placement to Mounted on Phone Mount in the Settings menu, and you should be all set. Please send an email to help@witharsenal.com if you have any questions. Thanks!

I never write reviews.

I can say the developers response to reviews is far more helpful than trying to reach customer support. However, our cameras have to be dialed in specifically to the correct settings and the link works!

I’ve taken literally one great photo and with the help of arsenal I didn’t need much post editing to get it to look better than I thought.

I give it 4 stars cause I had to resort to writing a review to get my issue addressed.

Response from developer

Sorry for the trouble. Can you please make sure your Sony cameras are in aperture priority when connecting to Arsenal 2? If that doesn't resolve the issue, please email help@witharsenal.com and we'll get this taken care of. Thanks!

Significant Improvement

Had the original arsenal. Version two connects to my phone much faster. And the images are taken much faster. I have the pro version. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. We're glad to hear it!

Love it! One bug.

I just got my arsenal 2 and I love it! Everything works great except panorama is not showing up on my app.

Response from developer

We're glad to hear it! Panorama will released via a firmware update. Please email help@witharseanl.com with any questions. We're happy to help!

Worthless device and app. Do not buy!!

Very disappointing experience with Arsenal 2 Pro Application and device.

The main reason why I purchased Arsenal 2 Pro ($250 plus shipping) because of nice functions like crowd control (removing moving objects like people, birds, etc), exposure bracketing, focus stacking, long exposure stacking (long exposure effect without ND Filters) BUT all of these functions are only producing output LOW quality JPG image (about 2mb) which lost all the details and impossible to work with in Lightroom to correct it. Due to this huge problem, this device so far is just worthless equipment for any person who works with raw files.

On the top of it the battery is draining so fast. On the standby connect it to camera and phone only will last probably 2 hours and even less when you actually taking pictures or in operational mode ( probably around an hour). So you definitely will need a power bank if you want to take longer timelapses or use it longer then an hour.

I wish these information would be disclosed during the purchase.

Lots of people also reported connection problems. I personally did not. Also the Arsenal gives an error messages that are impossible to understand without troubleshooting via email with support. But to get reply email from might takes days or currently Matt did not reply to my email already for 5 days.

Ryan and customer service refuses provide an answer on when will we have raw/dng files for STACKED images. When will we have panorama function? When will we have the BULB mode?

At the current stage this device does not worth the money or trouble. If they update main functions of stacked images to produce raw/dng file, i would retest it again and update review if necessary.

Arsenal 2 pro

I have used Arsenal 2 Pro for the first day today.
Firstly I found install easy and quick.
On use it is unclear if the final processed image is downloaded to my camera- a Z7ii Nikon.
I looked for the final processed image in a stack but couldn’t locate it in camera storage.
There doesn’t appear to be any tutorials on how to use each feature. I looked on you tube and the Arsenal site appears to only contain a set up tutorial.
Arsenal device appears to get very warm while operating. Guess it’s doing a lot of processing.
After charging the device it took about 50 min to reduce charge to 50 percent. So I guess you have to turn it off while not using it in a shot.
Any long exposures and time lapse with Arsenal will need a large backup battery to complete the task especially if it’s a long astro session.
On the focus stacking the feature of setting the near point and far point seems to be missing, instead you have figure out how many shots and the span between focus points to get a near-to-far focus stack. Then I can’t find the final image on camera. Maybe it went to the secondary SD card?
Need to watch the ISO if the mode is in aperture priority. If it’s low light, it assumes you want a high ISO, but I usually don’t so you need to dial it back manually.
I’ll try some more another day and see if I can find the truck to fix these things. Not so far though.
