  • Disappointed

I payed for this when it was just taking over buildings, buying skins and weapons for your character and changing the landscape. I did make another purchase to get other stuff, but I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t a necessity to progress in the game.
What is all this other crap going on? Getting tiles to move around and such. I didn’t and don’t care about any of that. And why do I find it so difficult to get coins? They put you in basically impossible to win levels, unless you spend coins to use an upgrade. When you don’t have coins, you have to pay real money to get them in order to move on. And all these extra things with tickets and gems?? Why?!
It was fun before and I will chalk it up to money spent and gone now. No ads is fun, but I get pop-ups about power-ups I could get if I watched an ad. It’s like an inception of ads.
Ads inside of ads. Too much going on. You have to eventually spend money to progress. Just don’t have an interest and I will delete.

  • Loses progress

I really enjoy this game. It has simple ten minute or so levels that make it a perfect unwind game for a busy life. There is definitely strategy involved and it has some interesting and fun side items. You earn coins and gems as you play and can use those to purchase characters with stronger stats. The only problem I have run into is that when the last update occurred the characters I bought with gems disappeared and I had to work towards purchasing them again from zero (or maybe 4) gems because they did not give gems back when they took the character away. I didn’t pay anything for it so no big deal, but if you plan to pay for this game it’s good to be aware. There doesn’t seem to be a way to contact the developer about the problem so …if you pay be aware.

  • New levels require ads to win with x2 boost

I've always liked this game and played through it many many times when there were only 70 unique levels that looped. I even paid for no ads. At first I was excited that the update brought new levels, but then I found there are many that put you so far behind at the start that you literally cannot win without watching an ad for the x2. When I've already paid for no ads, this feels very disingenuous. I feel all levels should be possible without the boost, which ultimately takes all strategy out of the levels since you just drag and win with no thought. But instead some levels give the enemy 3 of those new double attack/defense towers right at the start with no way for you to whittle them down before they start getting MAX. Disappointing, makes me not want to play anymore.

  • Good at first…

Ads in the middle of the game don’t even pause the game. So as you are waiting for the ad to finish you can still hear the game going in the background. This is t so bad at first but as you get in the higher levels where the game gets harder, you can be winning and when you get an add, after having to wait to click the 3!!? X’s to close it out, already have lost. Some ads don’t even load so all you get is a black screen and you have to close the app out and restart it and loose all of the progress you made.

The developers probably do this on purpose to try and bully you into buying the ad free version. You cant play anywhere you don’t have a good connection, and the developers likely don’t care to fix any of these issues because they are lazy.

  • More ads than game play

This game was decent fun, but extremely repetitive. But it had waaaayyyy too many ads. The developers “fixed” this problem by adding even *more* ads, which are now extremely disruptive to gameplay. So I mean it quite literally when I say that you will actually spend more time watching ads than playing this game. The levels are short and instead of just playing a zillion ads at the end of a level, they still do that AND play them once, sometimes more, in the middle of a level interrupting game play for you (while letting the AI keep playing). Of course there are pay to win powerups you can buy to help you overcome the problems unnecessarily created by the mid game ads which seem to pop up at least once a minute if not more frequently. Worse, it used to be possible to play this game on a plane, but now it requires a net connection even though it is single player (so they can force ads on you). So no more playing this while traveling. You are better off skipping this one entirely.

  • Disappointing 👎

I have NEVER wrote a bad review on adds before but this game has in game adds! And usually I’m very patient so I don’t mind but after the ad I look at the game and all the other colors are taking over and it is different then before! Maybe you could ad a pause button and when there is a add it could automatically pause so after the add it won’t change. Another thing is it’s to hard. I think it’s just because of the adds thing but it’s always really unfair. At first it’s fun because it’s challenging but then it gets so hard it just isn’t fun anymore. Also when there’s a add the add freeze’s up sometimes and I have to refresh the app and restart the level, it happens in another one of my games to so maybe it’s not the games fault but the add? But a way to fix it is to try to cut down on the adds if you can!

Anyway, hopefully the developers fix this but just know it really is a good game and I would recommend it if it weren’t for that little bug😅🏙❤️💚💛💙🤍

  • Game plays during adds

I love this game and I’m on level like 200 no joke. I haven’t had any problems with the game I really enjoy it and it is a lot of fun, however recently when you watch an ad for whatever reason or if an ad starts playing in the middle of your game it doesn’t pause your game it keeps going so at the beginning of the round if it plays an ad and adds over you get back on and there’s already no chance of winning because the game has been going on for that 30 seconds without you doing anything so you have to restart the level and then it plays another add at the beginning it’s like you can’t get anywhere with it!

  • great game, but so. many. ads.

if i could give this a 3.5, i would. but this doesn’t deserve to be rounded up to 4 so 3 is it. i will say, this game is honestly addicting. i just got it yesterday after seeing ads of it for months and ya it’s addicting. HOWEVER there’s way too many ads. ads will pop up in the middle of a game for abt 10 seconds but here’s the thing, your game doesn’t pause. it’ll keep going even with the ad and unability to play for the 10 second ad. for people who haven’t played this, then this may not seem like a big deal. but when your battling 4 other colors for that one and you FINALLY think you got it then there’s an ad that probably prevented you from protecting it? ya, issue. i understand the need for ads but PLEASE after or before the game. if u have the money i highly recommended buying no ads. idk..hope it’s worth it

  • Used to be a great game.

Used to love this game. It was a classic time waster. You’re not going to solve the worlds problems, double your IQ, or even file your income tax, but when you wanted to spend a few minutes with just a tiny bit of your brain engaged it was fantastic. In a recent update they made it a clone of one of their other games called Town Takeover. Are used to enjoy both games, But this is the one that got most of my time. The other one requires too much thinking sometimes. I really liked the fact that they had each kind; it meant that I could play which ever I was in the mood for. Important to note: I never updated City Takeover. I updated Town take over because it had a bug and that decided on its own to update City Takeover. The upshot was that the game that I really liked a lot, spent a great deal of time on - and PAID for - had been destroyed. I guarantee this company will never get another cent of my money.

  • Updates

I was really enjoying the version before the last update that took the game back to the original game play. I liked being able to build the city in the extra section after each fight that we were doing before the last update. Please bring back the extra play.

UPDATE: I now see where the developers were using this game as an advertisement/enticement to the new game Town Takeover. I have now downloaded it and started playing. However, I think it would be good if I didn’t have to start over at level 1 but could keep going from where I was during the practice game.
