  • Not voiceover accessible

I absolutely love syncthing on my desktop machines. It’s lightweight, fast, and once it’s set up it just works. I am sorely disappointed that I can’t bring that to my phone. I am blind and I use voiceover. I can’t make it past the splash screen. If I enable screen recognition, I can make it to the next screen where it appears to be something about notifications, but everything is unlabeled and broken. Shame

I am not sure why that is, since all the information is textual (labels and buttons). I have logged this at https://github.com/MobiusSync/MobiusSync/issues/171 and you are welcome to be involved there to help us work this out ASAP. However, basically the first welcome screen says welcome. The second screen prompts you to use two buttons to "Optionally enable notifications so Möbius Sync can prompt you when it needs to sync." and "Optionally enable local network access so Möbius Sync can directly sync with devices on Wi-Fi. Without this, a relay must be used."The third screen says just has a button saying "Get started".Then you are taken to the familiar Syncthing GUI which presumably is itself voiceover-compatible
  • Not worth the hassle - avoid

After switching iPads, my Premium access disappeared. I've been trying to get my this restored, but the developer is near-impossible to contact, as the contact form on their website is broken and the only way to reach them is via GitHub. Now, after the best part of a week, my multiple attempts at contact are going entirely ignored with no hope of a resolution, so unless this is resolved I have no choice but to leave a review to ward others away.

  • Tight integration

Thanks for making this! Works exactly as I’d expect . Files synced and then removed when deleted
This is better than sending all my stuff via iMessage !
  • Great

Works really great but it would be great to have more frequent updates of the underlying syncthing engine.

1.27.7 is currently in beta. You can navigate to Github Discussions for more details via https://www.mobiussync.com/faq/
  • Do not buy!

Broken on latest iOS and no way to contact developer, do not buy unless you want to be out $7 for absolutely nothing. So frustrating.

    Developer Response

You can contact via customer support listed on App Store or request a refund via Apple. Keen to understand your problem.
  • a couple of frustrating bugs

When I go to add a folder, if I first add an external folder (outside the mobius sync folder) it creates the bookmark:xxx identifier as "file path", but when I add a "folder label" (the first text field in the general tab of the add folder modal) the file path is overwritten by your new label, you have to type a label and then select your external folder

Also I deleted the default folder because I didn't need it, when my only folder was that external folder and I tried to sync, there would be no error, the file path would be correct, the state of the folder on my other machine would be correct ("3 directories, 500kb" etc) but nothing would appear on that filesystem. When I added a file on the remote folder, it showed up in the mobius sync folder on my iphone as if it was treating the default folder as the external folder. very screwy and I cried and reinstalled everything before getting it to work.

4 stars because once its setup it works smooth and i know iOS is a PITA so thanks for your work

  • No how, no way

I had to throw in the towel.

First, thanks to the developers for offering a TRIAL version - very much appreciated so I don’t blow money for something I can’t use.

Tried for about an hour mucking around to get this thing to sync.

No how, no way would it sync two documents.

This app is probably great for PhD’s in computer science, or programmers - I’m sure they will love it. But maybe not for “your average Joe”.

I just don’t have the time to burn hours fighting and agonizing to access some documents.

    Thanks for the trial.

  • Worth it

Even tho Syncthing is Free, implementing it in iOS must be difficult with the limitations. Well worth the price for the effort you gave for the community. Keep it up!
  • Doesn’t work, don’t waste your money.

No matter what I do, when I click “open folder” it won’t take me to the folder I’ve designated for a synced folder. It takes me to the “on my device” folder, and when I manually navigate to the folder I designated, it’s empty. Under the panel in mobius, it claims that my files have been synced. But they’re nowhere to be found in the files app, no matter what I do or where I look. Extremely frustrating. There is no documentation whatsoever on how to properly set up folders, which I have to assume is intentional at this point. Just another iOS app taking your money in exchange for false promises. Extremely frustrating. I’d happily pay $50 for an app that legitimately delivered on the promise of bringing full Syncthing functionality to iOS. But sadly it looks like that will never happen. Unfortunately, I just have to accept that I’m stuck with iCloud Drive as the only working way to sync my files.

A few users have reported this and found that the files appear within the Files app after a phone reboot. Hopefully this works for you, if not please contact us via support channels.
  • Limited by App Sandbox

It works, sure, but it’s not that useful to me. I’d love to use this with something like Obsidian or Logseq, but I can’t because the file storage is off-limits from other apps. Working Copy has the ability to share folders across apps, and Mobius Sync desperately needs this feature. I see it’s an open issue on Github, but there’s been no movement on it in the past year, which is very discouraging.

    Developer Response

The latest version now allows syncing of other apps’ sandbox documents, so it should work with Logseq or Obsidian
