  • Mind blowing

It took me about three minutes of using this app for my mind to be blown. It is so fast and so clever. We’ve all seen text scanning apps and they are pretty good. This one is exceptional.

It’s real power comes when scanning objects. You really have to try it to under just how good Scan Thing is. Honestly, it is on another level.

Whether for fun or business you will find a use case for Scan Thing. As someone who owns a small business, producing bespoke items, I know how time consuming it is to get real world items onto the web, looking great, separated from their background.

Now all I have to do is to use Scan Thing. It cuts pretty much anything from any background and even exports the scan by first removing all the blank pixels, giving you a perfectly cut and separated result that can take a whole lot of editing time in photoshop under normal circumstances.

I was dreading the revamp I have planned for my online store. You guys have just taken a whole load off my shoulders.

What a lovely review! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m really glad to hear you’re enjoying Scan Thing. Happy scanning!
  • Really nifty

It's a pretty cool app for the money. Been using it to scan all my models and Lego sets. I hope one day they add 3d scans but for now it's still well worth the price. I also appreciate that they don't collect data or have some annoying subscription plan, even if that means I have to pay for future features.

  • Whoa, amazing.

Before learning about this app from the latest AppStories podcast, I was using ClipDrop, which does something similar.

However, ClipDrop has a much steeper price, is subscription, and doesn’t currently export a “high” resolution image. Scan Thing solves all of these problems by being inexpensive (really, this app should be more like $10-$20; $5 is a no-brainer what what it does).

Definitely worth a look if you’re someone who needs to convert a real-life object onto a digital canvas (and without a background).

  • A Gem

Great app! Works immediately and flawlessly—without any fuss and exactly like the AppStore description. I was a bit stunned, actually. I bought the ‘unlimited saves’ IAP without hesitation.
  • Very great application

    Very great app. It impressive.
  • Awesome tool

This app scans everything. It is easy to use, great results, no strings. No upgrades, not accounts, no limits. Developer is quick to respond, continues to enhance. Best scanning app.
  • Just incredible

Really fun and functional. So looking forward to where this app will go in the future. It’s now a main icon on my home screen because it’s that good.
  • Privacy

Used it like twice but still bought the full app just because of great business practices. No data collection or trackers. You got some apps that will charge you 10+ dollars while simultaneously wanting to know everything you do in the app. No thanks. So my payment is more of a statement even if I don't use this app often.

  • Brilliant!... just a small request.

It’s a great app. The only thing which lets it down is that it doesn’t currently allow scanning a letter/doc to the camera roll. Sometimes when I scan a letter I like to just be able to have a copy in the camera roll, not necessarily as a pdf in the files app.

Having said that, it’s still so good that I bought it!

    Good work Pierre !

  • Tried it, but the handful of free scans did not impress

It seemed relatively easy to use, and the scan objects thing was kind of cool, but the OCR was not very good and the single document that I tried scanning before I ran out of free scans (which took about three minutes) didn’t work properly at all. I would probably play with it more if the unlock was more like $1, but for $10, it didn’t show enough promise to be worth the investment.
