Good game, but…

Don’t bother clicking on the ads as they only have the same one ad over and over and the rewards aren’t that great. They best one was when they offered research points for watching an ad but they porked that so watching the same ad over and over is no longer worth the effort. I expect the devs will add their usual disclaimer here about not having control over what ads are served. Do we believe it? I don’t think so.

Fun, but slow

First things first, this game is really fun! I think the concept is awesome, and the execution is done rather well, you build a civilization from the start of humanity, to a huge, intricate, society! The only issue I have comes from the pacing. I don’t have a ton of time in my life to play games, so when I sit down to get some time in, I’d like it to feel worth it. Unfortunately there is a lot of waiting around. Mostly for resources to upgrade your next skill, or to finance something. Which is fun, if I don’t have to wait 16 hours to make enough money to buy any of those things. Again, not a bad game, but definitely a bit of grinding, or pay to win if you want to go that route.

Thank you for the thoughtful review! We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the concept and the journey of building a civilization. This game is designed to let players progress at their own pace, but we understand it may not suit everyone’s preferences. We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the adventure when it fits your schedule!

Connections Issues

Is the game’s server using dial up internet connection? Try to play this game and you’ll get constant connection errors even on gigabit speeds or 5G connections. Deleted this.

Thank you for your review. We constantly work on improving the way we connect to the devices.

Good game, but…

There used to be a way of getting extra research flasks by watching ads. This has been changed recently so that you’re more likely to get gold. I don’t ever need more gold, but I always need research flasks so this change is very disappointing. On the plus side, I no longer watch the ads!

Play it every day however

This game is fun, and you can still make great advances in your city if you don’t want to spend money. However, the weakness in the game is the multiplayer component. Before I continue further, I want to make it clear that I play every day, so despite some gripes, I do enjoy what this game has created. Now for the criticism: The alliance you join is fun and helps you connect with other players, but it’s ultimately underwhelming. Knowing there’s so much Ancient Greek and Roman influence in the evolution of your civilization, why not have something akin to the Olympics? That’s a cool way to get alliances to have some friendly competitions with each other. Also, a lot of the tactics you can use to build a better city quicker is explained poorly. Granted, that is part of the fun of the game—to figure out how to be a better city planner. However, I almost quit the game in the first week because certain things weren’t clicking.

A compromise suggestion: offer a one time payment option for those players like me who might want to support the game. And then unlock some permanent perks for us. I guarantee you’ll keep more players this way.

Tearing my hair out here…

Look, I love this game, its terrific graphics, its gameplay and complexity, and the fact that I don’t have to join an alliance (I’ve had bad experiences with wannabe dictators and bullies in other games where you have to join a “clan.”) But please, please, please, please can you do something about how repetitive the ads are? The Rachael Harris ad in particular is on such high rotation that I want to scream every time she appears. Nothing against Rachael Harris, but five times in a row? Honestly, it’s really not going to make me download Royal Match. I totally get that advertising is necessary, but, please, can you mix them up a bit?

Thanks for your review! Unfortunately, ads are served by our partners, and we have only limited influence on their variety. We appreciate your feedback and patience with their repetitiveness!

Love the game but it’s rigged

Great game but super rigged. Especially during events. Don’t spend any money on this one. It’s not hard to give the daily special once in a while. But to get it 1 out of 30 is just stupid. Makes me not want to play the events anymore.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. Our game isn't rigged, there's even a rule ensuring you get the Daily Reward after a certain number of unlucky attempts. There is no obligation whatsoever to participate in the events. It's totally up to the player. As well, our game is 100% free, you can play & progress without spending any money. Play at your own pace!

Constant drive to watch ads to progress

Constant drive to watch ads to progress is really annoying.

Response from developer

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. You only get a miniscule amount of Research Points by watching ads :). Also, the number of ads per day is limited to begin with - generally they can be safely ignored with little to no impact on your progress. Thank you for playing!
