Incredibly helpful, informative, fun
I am not in the navy, however I originally got this app to help prepare me for eventually commissioning into the navy, as well as just for fun with one of my buddies who is in the navy right now and has taken the real astb.
We have both been using this app for the past year. This app recently came out on the mac app store around June 2024, which is incredibly helpful when it comes to the stick and throttle portion and uav portion of the astb. This makes everything about this app very similar to the actual exam.
My buddy who is in the navy just took his astb the other day, after a few months of using the mac version of this app, and he got 9/8/8. Needless to say, he would have never gotten the score he did without the use of this amazingly resourceful app. 10/10 would recommend if you are or are planning on taking the astb in the future, this app will best prepare you for it.Show lessJ_rodefer

I highly recommend the ASTB app, developed by Alex, to anyone preparing for the ASTB. Alex is incredibly passionate about helping you reach your goals and achieve your dream of becoming a naval aviator. In conjunction of this app and other study materials, I was able to achieve a 9/8/8 on my ASTB exam! One of the app's standout features is its unique practice sections, such as Terrain Association and the UAV section, which are difficult to find elsewhere. These, along with the other sections, provide comprehensive preparation for the test. My reaction time improved significantly by using the app's various practice tools, which simulate real exam conditions. The app offers valuable insights into the range of topics covered in each sub-section, helping me feel well-prepared for what to expect. The practice tests mirror the real exam’s time limits and question formats, making it an excellent tool for simulating exam conditions. While the actual ASTB may not always have the exact number of questions, this app comes very close to recreating the experience. Thank you to the developer of this app. This is the only app on the internet with simulators similar to the actual exam. Even a few sessions of prep dramatically increased my scores. I always recommend this app and know people that score amazing due to this. However I have some critiques. Number 1, the MCT is 30 questions not 20. Number 2, The stick and throttle sim isn’t that useful. And number 3, I wish the ANIT test had more questions especially on the higher difficulty. I’ve taken it so many times now I’ve memorized it but there’s stuff I’m still not confident on yet. Either way these are minor complaints, I’ll update after I take my test and most likely give back that missing star.Show lessMrTaylorR

Firstly, thank you for reaching out with these recommendations. I will make the improvements you specified regarding the MCT and ANIT tests soon. However, I will need some time to implement new features in the stick and throttle sim for iPhone/iPad users. However, I have some ideas that will improve the usefulness. Love this app on my phone but at the moment the stick and throttle portion is bound to the keyboard. Really would be better to have the stick able to bind to the mouse.Jehejdvsvshshsbfnfjxb

Thank you for the feedback. I will create the option to select to use a mouse shortly. Please be aware you can use compatible Bluetooth controllers or the X52 HOTAS controller variants (The actual Joystick used on the exam) for a better user experience.Scored a 6/6/7 with just this app
The ASTB was different than what is available in this app but the ideas were the same. The knowledge was extremely helpful and unfortunately didn’t get through all of it before taking the test but if I got the chance to take it again I would get a X52 joystick a few months before for the UAV test and go through all the knowledge at least once along with practicing word problems. *wink wink*Show lessZAcHSte

The ASTB-E is very unique test for which preparing can seem totally overwhelming. However, this app provides you with the only two things you ultimately need to be successful: a blueprint for your academic preparation and an array of simulators for your neuromotor performance.
Use the syllabus to guide your studies. Dive deeper into subjects with which you’re unfamiliar, and test yourself on those you think you already are familiar. The structure allows you to ensure you’re allocating your time effectively which, for a test with such a wide range of material, is crucial.
Make the simulators part of your daily routine - they are incredibly well-designed and true to the real test. Practice makes perfect, and the app makes practice convenient.
Having been through the process myself now, I can say that this app is truly invaluable - worth every penny. Furthermore, the app developer in incredibly responsive, helpful, and committed to the product. Don’t get bogged down or discouraged, preparing for the ASTB-E is straightforward (dare I say fun?) with the help of this app.Show lessblobeyestiguy

I am a retired Naval Aviator. My generation took the AQT-FAR test for flight school aptitude. My oldest is a Midshipman NROTC 2/c and used this prep as one of his primary pillars of study. His exam score was a 8/9/8. Max is 9/9/9. An 8/9/8 is considered an incredible score. On an exam where you only can take it 3 times and last full score counts, to score that high on the first test is amazing and a testament to how well this prep works.
