I use the Micmol lighting products for my African Grey enclosure by CustomCages and my reptile enclosures. I chose Micmol because they offer weather effects that can go off randomly during a set period. All the other products on the market in this genre require manual activation of thunderstorms which is gimmicky and useless.
Micmol Nihao, Master, and even their Aqua products for planted tanks are RBGW so they can be adjusted to the proper kelvin temperature for the needs of Avian and reptile species. Using a kelvin temp app I was able to dial in the temp to the proper 5500k and lower for close replication of sunrise and sunset light. The one I haven’t yet mastered is Lunar and I may need a different product to accurately replicate Lunar lighting conditions.
The app still needs refining to make all the functions work properly (missing labels when creating automations and tap to runs) but the if/then rules do a lot more within this app than any other built in controller. Standalone controllers such as GHL (which I own the profilux and custom lighting made by GHL) and Blue Fish can do all of these functions but the cost of builds starts in the $700 range. Micmol is as close to that as it gets right now.
Lighting is a very important part of animal habitat microclimate creation and I recommend Micmol for anyone on a budget but still wanting decent CRI and other specifications. If you want high end lighting for Avian applications, Wavform Lighting 99CRI and GHL make the very best you can get as a consumer.
