I honestly thought at first i had a spider in my house but it said beetle... also i took a pic of my mole ( dont ask) and it said widow skimmer. I mean, what the heck is that either way?! Don’t recommend if you want a precise answer, but worked.
Don't waste your time
I downloaded and first tried to allow limited access to photos and it kept kicking me out when I tried to choose a photo.
I gave full access and it scanned my photo. Then an ad popped up and I had no way to get out of it. When I hit close, it closed the app as well. I deleted the app.

I’ve ensured all my photos meet the recommended parameters (one insect, sharpened image, no blurr, full insect is in frame, full daylight, etc.) nonetheless, I have yet to see this app correctly identify a single specimen.
This may sound like a joke, but it’s not: this app can’t tell the difference between a wood tick and a black ant. Nor can it differentiate a carpet beetle from a honey bee.
Not to mention you have to watch an ad for each picture you submit. I never write app reviews, but I feel in this case it would be a disservice not to. Don’t be like me, don’t download this app, don’t waste your time.

Good but privacy concerns
This app would not work with limited access to photos. When one photo was selected for access it said restrictions were preventing use.

this app is def not the best bug id app. but it has wayyyy to many adds and for some reason i dont trust some of the analysis’s it makes. so if i were u I would look at reviews before buying it so ur not wasting ur time and energy. so i dont recommend it. at all. pls read this and don’t get.
Rubbish
What is this app! My grandson drew pictures of bugs and birds (he’s 7!) and it identified them as many different types of bugs. Pokémon Pikachu was identified as a cucumber beetle! And a blue pompon was identified as three times as different bugs.

It keeps calling spiders Beatles, like Japanese beetles…
