Markdown editor with syncing
I mostly use the iPad and Mac apps for editing. iPhone is useful to view documents on-the-run, but my aging eyes struggle to edit on the phone—folks with better eyesight will do better.
I was concerned about the monetization model. The whole thing is completely free. That’s fantastic, but I want a long-term supported app. Eventually, I found a Donate button in the app Preferences. I promise, this is not a paid review, or some kind of shill—just throw a few bucks at the developer if, like me, you want Typewriter to keep going.
Keeps getting better!
Clean and simple Markdown editor
Install, Run, Choose a README.md, job done
Needs export as PDF
Simple and efficient
Response from developer
I'm glad you enjoy the app, thank you for the review!
Doesn't even open .md files
Also, if you create a new file, and if you save a new document it forces you to use no file extension.
Response from developer
Hello, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue, the app opens .md files and allows you to save as plain text or Markdown file. Can you make sure you are running the latest version and explain the issue in more detail?
Works great as a Markdown editor
The only thing I see needs fixing is the refresh rate for the preview pane. (Also, nice to have would be a preview checkbox --> editor refresh, for ToDo list functionality.)
Response from developer
I've submitted a new release (1.1.1) with the Markdown UTI (Uniform Type Identifier) support, along with plain text. It should be available soon. I would be glad if you could check whether the issue is fixed with this update. Thanks for the feedback!
Skipped
Here's how it looks. You write:
> First line,
> Second line.
And here's what you see in the previewer instead of two lines:
| First line, Second line.
So, I skipped this app.
P.S. Thank you for your quick reaction.
Response from developer
I've added an option to enable line breaks with Return in the app preferences window. It will be in version 1.0.7, which should be available soon. Thank you for the report!
Great Simple, Clean Markdown App
❓ I would love to know if there a keyboard shortcuts for use with the iOS version of the app when I have my Bluetooth keyboard hooked up. In particular I'd like to have a hot key for switching between editing and preview modes.
Response from developer
Hello, thank you for the review! You should be able to switch between modes with cmd+ctrl+ P (review) / E (ditor) / B (oth), like on Mac. You can also check other available shortcuts while editing with cmd long press (like bold/italic/strikethrough, indent left or right, lists...). I will add more of them soon to keep the iOS app on par with the Mac one.
