v3.5.3

March 20, 2023

The very niche-but-popular-in-its-field fuel helper is back!  A minor but nonetheless useful app update. Mainly the addition of the 'fine adjust' buttons for the specific gravity. It's been cold and I've been wearing gloves, I noticed that it was rather fiddly getting the SG slider to land exactly on the spot I wanted it. So now you can nudge the SG up or down by tapping the Fine Adjust buttons. Each press moves the SG up or down by 0.01 (To the casual reader 0.01 might not sound much but when fuelling and A380 it could make all the difference!)

3.5.1

September 19, 2022

What's new here? I hear you ask. Well... (pulls up a chair) Firstly, we adjusted the layout slightly to make things fit better for all iPhones. A couple of avid users liked the fact you could swap between airlines in the app, but what about if the app saved your last chosen airline as a preference and automatically booted into that operator straight away next time ? Yeah, ok. Someone else pointed out that it's really cool to live in the USA and use gallons and stuff. We'll take your word for it. We could make your life even cooler by making the app save gallons (or litres) as your preference, no need to remember to switch it over every.single.time. Finally, we squashed that bug on the DOH airline fuel calc sheet that could sometimes give you a bad calculation under certain circumstances, because getting things right is important.

3.5.0

March 16, 2022

V3.5.0 The 'Calc' button is no more. Yes, we've tidied up the screen and got rid of the Calc button.  Now when you enter figures into Airline Fuel Helper the calculations will complete instantly with no need for a calculate button. The SG density slider will also update the calculations live as it's dragged, not when its 'dropped' as previous versions. Other minor updates include fixing a bug where the background colour did not change if the device moved from dark to light mode and vice versa. You are now also asked to confirm if you would like to clear all figures as accidentally selecting 'Clear all figures' and erasing your calculations sorta ruins your day, and it's not cool.

3.0.2

January 19, 2022

* Version 3.0.2 contains minor UI updates and spelling corrections ** Fuel helper V3.0 is now set up to handle the new DOH airline fuel log format. Well. These updates seem to come round ever more quickly! No sooner had we managed to get Bob's button working and released when we get an email from Patrick somewhere out there..."The DOH airline are changing their fuel log THIS WEEK!" It seems like the DOH airline and the DXB airline are still in competition for the worlds most overly complicated fuel log! And oh boy, the DOH airline are winning with this one. Also included my gift to you - a free hidden game of 'Airliner Trumps' for you to find! - play against your phone and test your aircraft knowledge. Sometimes maybe the biggest, fastest or most produced aircraft might win, other times the smallest, shortest range or one that hardly sold (Hello L1011 TriStar!) might win you the title! Being free some of the stats might not be the most accurate for the aircraft types. Its a game, its free, so don't @me!

2.3.0

November 3, 2021

Version 2.3.0 What's new ? We’ve been busy taking your comments and ideas on board. •Biggest addition is “Boab’s button” - or the "Multiple Fuel Receipts toggle" to give it its proper name, the ability to handle two fuel delivery receipts. •Online user help •Tweaks to the interface to make it more compact and reduce the amount of scrolling needed. •A nice gradient background for the aircraft on the header. •Got a phone with a notch ? Great ! The UI has been tweaked to handle it properly! •Got a phone without a notch ? Great ! The UI has been tweaked to handle it properly! More About Boab’s Button: A Scottish user called Boab (Bob) got in touch and said that on his station there are no fuelling hydrants and the fuel is delivered by tanker. Not only that but that sometimes it needs two tankers to complete the uplift. He asked if we could somehow implement a way of catering for two fuel receipts without having to switch to the calculator app to add the two totals together. We said “Sure!” Be like Boab, have an idea and send it in!

2.1.1

Version 2.1.1 minor update: •A reader from Doha got in touch and notes "Today whilst using your app it did not work as the local SG value was 0.768 and you app only goes down to 0.770, it was 45℃ outside!" Sweaty, eh?! Anyway, we've made a tweak - the SG now goes between 0.7600 and 0.8400. It can't get any hotter, can it ? •As a side note, the next time the Good Samaritan who reported this glitch went to his local burger bar he was rewarded by getting a free upgrade to an 'XL' soda when he only ordered an 'M'. If you notice any glitches or would like anything added then please get in touch. Who knows how you could be rewarded for your good deeds! •A couple more aircraft added to the header as people seem to like them. Got a favourite ? Send it in!

We've been busy adding and subtracting stuff from your favourite fuel helper app! There's now another airline! You know... the one next door, the one that flies from DOH with the weird fuel log that seems to be the wrong way round from everyone else's ? We re-jigged some UI items in the app to maintain continuity with other versions. The numbers are bigger! Yes, we made the numbers bigger, because frankly, no one is getting any younger and who's got time to look for reading glasses in a dimly lit cockpit ? If used on an iPad the screen remains more compact instead of filling the whole screen. The 'approximate uplift' figure has also been moved up just under the actual uplift, so no need to have to open the twisty to see what fuel you might need to uplift. In fact, the two twistys at the bottom have gone. No need for them with the approx. uplift moved (and who wants to do a random USG / LIT conversion, anyway ?) But I'm sure you'll agree the biggest UI update is the two random aeroplanes that appear up top. They now change on every reboot. Keep an eye out for the Tri-Star and the Concordes. Get two Concordes together? Let me know! (there's no prize, though)

Ability to uplift in US Gallons added and also the addition of an ETOPS engine oil consumption calculator. Users in the USA wanted a way to be able to enter US gallons directly into the 'fuel uplifted section'. You now have the choice of US gallons or litres as your uplift volume unit from the truck. The app will also save this preference for future use. A small caution symbol appears in the fuel uplifted field if you are using gallons to remind you.

Price History of Airline Fuel Helper

Description of Airline Fuel Helper

Aimed at aircraft fuelers and mechanics who routinely handle the 'big airline from the UAE / Dubai' - you know, the one with lots of A380's. It now also handles the airline next door, the one from Doha with the fuel sheet that's a bit different. This app aims to make it easier to work out the fuel figures for the log. Laid out in exactly the same way as the fuel section of the technical log, Airline Fuel helper will make sure you have the correct figures ready to copy over to the tech log when required. Last minute fuel figures can make it easy to get yourself in a fix when doing the math. Not any longer. Also included is a 'US Gallons to Litres' convertor and a prediction of required fuel uplift from the truck. Densities can be finely adjusted to match the variables of the day and all figures will be recalculated instantly for you.
