Doesn’t support .aiff files
I know it’s a Windows app first and foremost, but to be on iPad OS, where apps like GarageBand exports .aiff files, and ONLY specifically support .aif and NOT .aiff? Poor form. Since the whole point of the app is to put visuals to music, having to convert my music (by typing another ‘f’) means updating a LOT of files for just this one app.Show lessA. Toonguy

I had been dreaming of an app like this for a long time. One that could react to different instruments in a track separately. Imagine my surprise when I heard of this app. The progress it has seen since is spectacular and I just bought the retina refill, can’t wait to check it out.Toransufoma

I use this app to make videos for my songs for YouTube. I can’t believe all of the things that I can visualize with it. I really appreciate the fact that the materials can be edited. My only request would be making the materials code editor to be able to change the font size, as I am blind :-) this doesn’t detract at all from the value and capabilities of this app. I look forward to using it on even more of my music videos.Show lessKanyeCoooooo

Not really interested in making videos so I was hoping it could be for use in a live setting using the iPad. To do that ios DAWs would have to be configured for video. Not aware of any but I did have success using screen mirroring to various TV displays using AUM and Camelot Pro. For live use I would think HDMI would be the way to link to external display. Stand alone should save audio file with the patch. Right now the audio file, if you loaded one, stays no matter what patch you bring up. Still gave it 5 stars as it has evolved since release and has so much potential.Show lessmhoman

Michael, thanks for your positive review. VS already responds to PC commands. Adding start/stop support to PC is questionable. Adding the audio/midi files to a patch is something we are already working on. You should really get in touch with us via our website chat. This is a really cool app! been messing around with GLSL coding for a few months, and the implementation of custom GLSL shaders is really great and intuitive in VS. There are a couple of things I would love to see added in future updates:
- more ways to interact between different layers such as displacement of one layer to another and feedback loops.
- post processing effects such as luma key, feedback, kaleidoscope, mirror or others.
- option to load videos and images in the layers other than the B layer

Used this app live with great success:
Old iPhone connected to projector. Synthstrom Deluge with CME Widi sending Midi to up to 8 layers, different notes triggering different shapes/colours/patterns on the Imaginando VS app, all nicely synced to the music playing on the Deluge. Background layer was a bespoke 10min video clip I’d created on loop, but with the addition of the VS layers, no one noticed it looped 3-4 times during gig!:)
Looking forward to more flexible / bigger choice of midi controllable artefacts. I’d love to be able to use midi to trigger pre-programmed words to appear and be manipulated:)xShow lessHaineZee

The instrument is very well designed. Saving/Importing presets and source files is well executed in iOS using the native file system. VS’s features and abilities are similar to ZwoBot and EboSuite and while not as “deep” VS is extremely user friendly, intuitive, reasonably efficient and is perfect for designing and rendering multiple, frequency and rhythmic specific layers for use in final video productions. The materials update allows us to import fragment shaders to add more variety to our visualizations. You need to have some familiarity with shaders or have other users share their frag files.polarpaul
